I'm Jewish so I've fasted every Yom Kippur since I was 13. That means no food or drink (even water) for 25 hours. I also usually observe a few other fast days, though I will drink water during those. Fasting is easy for me, I put myself in the right mind for it and I do feel cleansed physically and spiritually by the act. My one piece of advice would be to drink plenty of water beforehand and to avoid salty foods before starting.

Um, I cut a stupid amount of weight when I wrestled in high school does that count?

No need to fast if you want to 'cleanse' yourself. Just buy a bottle of this stuff and drink it. You will be 'cleansed' in no time!

The first 24 hours are the toughest, the next couple are much easier.

Except that they don't; the stomach organ is basically like a deflated bladder inside a football. When the body reaches a true starvation mode, the abdomen can bloat from gastric pressure; that's why the Suzanne Somers kids look badly emaciated with giant guts.

Maybe you should stick to talking about what you know about and leave the rest to someone who didn't fall asleep in class.
