Who is a selfish piece of shit? I have one. I'm talking about the friend that everyone else thinks you're crazy for hanging out with. They take advantage of you every chance they get and use you to get what they want.

Yeah, I've got one of those Bros.

We actually don't hang out much anymore, to be honest, he did something pretty outrageous this summer that even I, with my loose, and forgiving friend rules, couldn't deal with.

So.....eh. Such is life.

Exactly Upper. Im the kind of person that would do anything to help anyone, even if it was a complete stranger.

Friend "Dude you think you could spot me 50 bucks until friday"

Me "Sure dude, just make sure you get it back to me"

Friend "Yea dude I will I just had to pay (insert here) and my hours got cut a little bit at work"

Me "Don't worry about it bro, shit happens".

Friday rolls around, friend is no where to be found or has some retarded excuse. Shit is getting OLD

I tend to cut those type of people out of my life. I am no longer friends with my best friend since 7th grade and we were inseperable for years. I miss her at times but it was for the best.

My "best friend" stole $550 out of my bedroom while I was at work. (We were roomates) And tried to make it look like it was a break in. The cop told me it was someone I knew that knew I had money....Nothing else was stolen, including some gold jewelry. Needless to say, we haven't been as close since this happened.

yeah, one of my friends does this crap all the time

one example: I went over to his house and the dude literally had no money and was broke and hungry so I told him to order a pizza on by debit card. When it gets there he hands me the receipt and its like $20 bucks with a 4 dollar tip. If your broke and hungry don't get the most expensive thing on the menu. It makes me mad how ungreatfull he is and he just really doesn't get it. 20 bucks is no big deal but its just the pricipal of the fact that if someones trying to help you out don't take advantage of them.

I'm extremely wealthy so I don't worry about selfish friends. If they are putting out and they want something, why not?

Would that be the kind of friend who nearly kills you in a motorcycle accident, whose life you save by putting out the fire that has engulfed him, and who then sleeps with your wife?

Hmmm...I'm not sure how else to say it. I had a friend who nearly killed me in a motorcycle accident, whose life I saved by putting out the fire when he was engulfed in flames, and then a couple years later he slept with my (now ex, then) wife. That qualifies as "a friend who is a selfish piece of shit".

I know I just shouldn't associate with this dude anymore, but it's tough because we've been friends for our whole lives.. which apparently doesn't mean shit to him.

It's hard, but you just have to cut them out of your life.

I had a friend like that once, we'd know each other since we were like six and we were friends with a lot of the same people. When we were in high school, we always thought "'Black' just wants to be the center of attention." That was incorrect. "Blank" was/is a selfish piece of shit who was only concerned about his own wants and desires. He would trample most other people in his quest for said wants. And, on top of that, he was a horrible drunk. He would pick fights, destroy public and personal (friends' things) property, and he was wildly offensive.

Frankly, he became embarrassing to bring around my college friends.

After one particularly awful night, I just said to him: "I'm through with you. Don't come to my apartment again. You're not welcome here. If I see you out and around - that's fine. But don't call me. Don't ask to crash here. Don't even think about stepping in here tagging along with someone else. I'm done with you."

I haven't seen much of him since then, but I know a lot of my other friends have cut him out of their friend circles, as well.

It's just loaning people money, of any amount, that proves problematic.

My sister in law owes me a huge amount of money from 2 years ago, that I've pretty much come to terms with not getting back, but it doesn't make the situation any less bitter and awkward.

I used to be all for loaning money to help out whoever needed it that I was close to, but now, I can't even do it.

That's terrible. You're a hell of a lot better man than I as I probably would have killed him for that.

As I have grown older I find it smart to keep my friends far away and those I don't like out of state.
