Rumor is that the entire program is moving to another Cleveland school - in Division 4. Guess who Hiland could be playing at a regional near you in the coming years? Hope that one is not true.

Any truth to the rumor I heard at citc about Regina closing down, the bball team moving regrouping and becoming D4?
Unfortunately the rumor is true. I heard it from a coach, and I also saw it printed as a passing comment in the Holmes County Journal. I believe the school is N. Ridgeville Lake Ridge Academy, a small Div. IV school in the Creston district of the Massilon Regional.

:(

Taylor Mingo is gone after this year, but Regina/NRLRA will be very strong with the players they can bring in. On a talent level, many have thought they should compete on the DI level. For them to go to DIV is a little ridiculous, but it is what it is. Maybe the supers will push the multiplier to apply to schools like that. We'll see. I'm sure DIII schools are happy!

I wouldn't count on that. Definitely not next year redistricting only occurs every other year. After that, it just depends on the number of schools in each regional. The Gnadenhutten sectional is on the border between Massilon/Pickerington regionals, so it has been switched a number of times in the past. But I don't think it's a particularly likely change in the immediate future.

Regina's coach is definitely going to Lake Ridge. The assumption is that most or all of the players would too, but there's no way of knowing, it's not public information, and the girls might not even have decided yet. But I think one can expect Dilius to have five Div. I caliber players from around the region/country.

we got moved initially (going into '07) because of the large number of D4 parochial/religious schools opening up in Central Ohio. It was SUPPOSED to be something like 25-30% more schools vying for one district championship than anywhere else in the state. What actually happened, though, is that several of them did not show up when the tournament draw came around, leading to quite a few one game sectionals in the Central District. So rather than move the Eastern district back down, there is now one fewer NW district playing in Elida.
