In the wake of a 7.0 earthquake and subsequent aftershocks, Port Au Prince has essentially been leveled.

100,000+? Wow. Highest estimate I've seen by a long shot. The destruction there is awful.

I have some friend there right now and I am glad to find out they are ok. Very sad day for Haiti. They don't have many resources to begin with.

100,000 ppl to Haiti equates to 3.1 million here................can you imagine a disaster killing 3 million ppl in the US? It is 1% of their entire population.

The poorest country in the world will never even be able to crawl again after this.

Talk about a knock out punch. They don't have the money in the capital to rebuild a single building.

That's why we'll do it for them and they'll end up better off than they were--not that it's a good thing that so many people are dead, don't get the wrong idea.

Sad story.

What type of economic system do they have? Are they a capitalist nation? Serious question.

Some are estimating as high as 500,000. Quite a tragedy.

Leading Sen. Youri Latortue told The Associated Press that 500,000 could be dead, although he acknowledged that nobody really knows

Prayers to their country. I pray that God comforts the ones who lost loved ones, and that people who are stuck in the rubble can be freed. Very, very sad. I think their is a website to donate. Red Cross, maybe?

Why would you pray to God? Remember, God killed these people, blame him.

Oh right, I bet its all part of "His plan" LOL

According to Pat Robertson, Haiti made a deal with the devil.

When you watch video off kids laying in the street, either dead or bloodied. It is beyond me how some ppl can come on here and make light, or joke about believing in God or not.

Whether there is a god in the sense that you mean, you are an embarrassment to humanity.

I'm just tired of the double standard. When something good happens, people are quick to say "I'm so blessed, thank you God". But when something bad happens they are quick to "pray to God for these people". You can't have it both ways, and there's no doubt in my mind God killed these people, so praying to him only means you agree with his decision, which of course you agree to laying destruction on some of the worlds poorest people.

Whatever helps you sleep at night.

You don't believe in 'God"...so what does it matter whether people who do believe, pray to him or not? It's no sweat off your ass.

Just get your checkbook out and/or do what you can to help humanity since you can't offer your prayers in addition to money or help.

Oh don't worry, I pay taxes, and the United States will no doubt write a big fat check to the people of Haiti. That is worth exponentially more than praying to a God who wanted it to happen in the first place.
