Back in late September.....I decided that I was going to write a letter to Urban Meyer. The man is my coaching hero and I just wanted him to know as much

So I write him the letter and I don't expect anything in return.

I get up this morning and get the mail. There is a huge envelope from the UF Football department

I open it up,and there is a hand-written card and an autographed picture from Urban and Timmy(I had mentioned him in the letter)

So needless to say my day started pretty well

urban truely is a class act guy when it comes to stuff like this. a couple years ago at Fremont SJCC there was a 3rd grader who had muscular dystrophy and is in a wheel chair and his mother had cancer. he almost died and his family has been stuck with many medical bills, and we threw a fundraiser for his family and our head football coach sent an email to Urban and explained everything and he signed a bunch of stuff to be auctioned off.

No, people on here hate him because he crushed their hopes and dreams in January 2007.

I have heard many stories like this and Crimson's. He is still very active raising funds at both Bowling Green and Utah.

Cool story bro (no sarcasm)

exacly people dont like Urban because he wins plain and simple. and because they stomped ohio state in the national title game. i believe the guy is a class act and many people say he is a cheater how about you ohio state fans look at your own program before throwing stones in glass houses. considering Pryor was at one point ineligible to play due to ohio states 375 secondary recruiting violations.

No...to say he isn't "a prick" because he sent you a damn picture is stupid. I don't dislike Meyer let alone hate the guy, I'd take him at OSU in a flash (when JT hangs 'em up)

And Crimson, spare yourself the indignity of the secondary violations bullshit, Ohio State nor it's fans have anything to do with it, only your blatant hatred for them.

I don't recall many people hating Urban Meyer here. Some might, but I don't think most of them do. I'm no Florida fan, but I think it's obvious that he's a great coach.

And that is a cool story. :)

i recall many ohio state fans on here saying he was a snake and cheats i was just pointing out how ohio state fans shouldnt say much about that considering all the violations that go on there, but it happens at every school but thats for a different topic.

What's a suprise?

This is rather neat though. I've always liked Urban Meyer. I think he recruits Florida thugs, but mostly because of the state he's in and not his desire to have thugs in his program. I love how religious he is (although I'm not overly religious myself), and his overall demeanor; seems like a class act in my opinion.

By the way your avatar blows. But I'm sure many feel the same way with mine.. :)

Ask yourself the same question, if you're going to take the handful of Urban detractors and apply that thinking wholesale on Ohio State fans you're just as guilty.

That is a cool surprise because you would not expect it. A handwritten note from the best football coach in college, glad to know Coach Meyer is doing good things every day.

If true, that is pretty cool. Congrats.

I gotta ask what motivates someone to just out of the blue send a letter to a complete stranger though. I'll never understand the premis of fan mail.

I might have just not read those threads because they don't interest me.

I've read plenty of posts that hate on Rich Rod and Charlie, but not so much on Urban Meyer.

Considering you quoted this in your response I would call it obvious.

Thanks.
