Stepping down after 20 years as the coach of the Chieftains. Big loss to the Chiefs. Rumor is that Kelly Wolfe will be the next Head Coach.

His run over the last 12 years is, to put it lightly, unbelievable, 11 winning seasons (including 9 years with at least 8 wins) without a single losing season. 7 playoff appearances (with 4 of them coming in Division I) and 10 Southeastern Ohio Athletic League titles. The 12 year run includes 4 unbeaten regular season teams [2000 (12 wins), 2001 (10 wins), 2008 (11 wins), 2009 (11 wins)], 2 9 win teams (1999 and 2007), and 3 8 win teams (1998, 2005, 2006).

Amyx career record was 140-71 for a .660 win percentage. Amyx won 13 SEOAL Championships in 20 seasons.

It's been rumored yes..nothing happened..he just felt it was time to step down I suppose. He's been the Head Coach for 20 years. Was on the staff for around 30 if I'm not mistaken? He will still be teaching at LHS though. So I'd assume he just figured it was his time to step aside. He had a great run that's for sure.

Nah..if indeed Wolfe is the next to take over the reins. Then I don't think it will be an issue. He has been under Amyx for some time. He knows the game as well.

Solid program that has been good under this coach. Lots of titles, playoffs and seasons when they give the big boys in the OCC a bloody nose. :p

Defense is the big question mark,,,Amyx was the sole manager of that for years,it was his specialty.I think the offense will be the same under Wolfe but another thing to consider is Amyx's presence,,I know them kids were scared to death of him because of his stature and displinarian ways and they worked their tails off for him for fear of him having a meltdown, not sure if Wolfe will have the same kind of effect,he seems like more of a nice guy to me but I could be wrong,it will be interesting to see....

Not to pat myself on the back, but I was one of a few that said this was coming. I for one am 100% behind the idea of Kelly Wolfe taking over. As mentioned above, the defensive side of the ball is going to be the big question mark going into next season. I just hope that no matter who the next coach is, is that we as fans will give him at least 3 seasons---preferably 5 seasons--- to see how things are going. Remember that coach Amyx had some really bad seasons after he took over the reigns.

Congrats to Coach Amyx for the great run.

Logan and DeSales had a couple great games between them and I always respected the way that Logan played football.
