The Simpsons used to be better but they've gotten stale....definitely Family Guy at this point. Though I like the Cleveland Show better

I love them all. I used to watch The Simpsons growing up but went to South Park when it statrted it first started. When I was in college, I got back into Family Guy because I remember how funny it was when it first came on the air. I got bored one day and started watching the Simpsons again.
Like someone else said, it depends on how you look at the shows.
I think that there are 2 big things that all 3 of the shows poke fun at.
Cultural Satire
1. South Park
2. Family Guy
3. Simpsons
Political/Current Event Satire
1. South Park
2. The Simpsons
3. Family Guy
Down Right Funny
1. Family Guy
2. South Park
3. Simpsons
It's very unfair to put South Park into this conversation because of the way that it's made. I actually did a project on this for a Pop Culture course. It takes Parker and Stone about 1 week to make a South Park episode because of the computer animation that they do. The one example I know of off the top of my head was the Elian Gonzalez issue. Elian was returned to his family April 22, 2001. The South Park episode with the quintuplets from Romania (making fun of the Gonzalez issue) aired on April 26, 2001. They can adapt to what's going on very quickly and poke fun of what's current.
Family Guy/The Simpsons take a couple months to complete, so they can't poke fun of something going on right now. It's a lot easier for South Park to read a Sunday Morning headline and make fun of it Wednesday night.

Not to mention South Park is on cable television while Simpsons and Family Guy are on broadcast television. FCC is much stricter with the regulations of broadcast allowing South Park to "get way" with more during an episode.

This is irrelevant because South Park is better than both.
