Good sound football or running up the score and uncalled for in light of the situation with Texas losing McCoy.

Backup RB.
Got the ball inside the 5 to begin with.
Texas still had a TO.
10 points inside of 1:00 is not insurmountable, though it would require some fucked up shit to happen. Making it 16-17 erases all doubt.

No problem with it at all.

I thought Saban probably should have just told his team to take a knee. That would have forced Texas to use its last timeout (if they even wanted to), and then the clock would have ran out on 3rd down I think. You could always say that there might have been a fluke fumble or something like that, so scoring the TD is probably justified. I don't think Saban should take too much heat for it, but it probably wasn't the best thing to do.

It was a good move as he will get devoured for poor sportsmanship among everything else he's done moodily and take the light of McCoy not playing a good bit. They won't ask him much about Texas not having McCoy....they'll ask him why he's an ass and he just doesn't care.....he's got issues and damn can he coach.

Texas was not using their last time out, or did you not notice that?

Had they not converted on 3rd (and the time would have been there, though barely), that TO gets used to lead to a FG and give little time for a miracle TD drive.

Good point.

They didn't use it after the first down run which showed that Brown was just letting it go.

That's when both coaches just kind of look at each other and know if you've ever been around the game.

After that it should have been kneel down, not Richardson up the middle.

My bad, I forgot Texas had one good rush out of there.
Still, a penalty put the ball in there so deep.

Does it matter?

You're team didn't win, so you just want to find something to bitch about?

Yes, he was probably running up the score. It happens. It's called the SEC. No surprise there. You act like it was a big surprise, or that it was Jim Tressel.

Just shut up, and stop bitching, damn.

There was what 45 seconds left? They kneel on second down and they let the clock run. They kneel on 3rd down and for some reason Texas calls a time out. There is maybe 10 seconds left(possibly less.) They could have ran around for 10 seconds on 4th down. If not, they give them the ball inside the 5. Do you really think they have guys fast enough to run the length of the field in less than 10 seconds, get an onside kick, and then run a play to win the game?

Most people on here don't care about either of these teams.

It's a debate because some care about class and sportsmanship.

In that context, yep it matters.

Point is, both coaches are known for being poor sports. How many times was Mack Brown up by 30+ and going for it on 4th down late in the 4th quarter this year? 3-4?

How many times was he airing it out late in the 4th quarter?

The game is over. Texas lost, Alabama won.

It's like bitching about pointless PI calls that had very little effect on the final score.

I never said it was probable.
However, it is feasable.

Moving a game from 10 points to 16 is not running it up, end of story.

For the record, I wanted Alabama to win this game.

I'm not a big Mack Brown fan and I think Texas got lucky through the year with the Bradford injury in that game and not many huge games besides that in the Big 12.

I just think you have to call out poor sportsmanship when you see it. If all you can do is boo and call the guy out for it, then that's all you can do.

What I'm saying is that you can't act like Texas is a victim when they ran up the score plenty of times this year, and over the last x amount of years.

You don't see me making a thread every single time a coach runs up the score. It's pointless to discuss, especially when it's nothing new.

I disagree that it's pointless to discuss. You can discuss a variety of topics about the game and sports and this was just the national championship game so there are many topics to weigh in on.

Just a bunch of nerds talking ball like always. :D

If you listen to the talk shows tomorrow I'm sure after they discuss different aspects of the game some will question this as well.
