We do not stand by; we constantly try to win over hearts and minds. We offer the alternative solutions. We assist in the fight of good vs evil. In the same vein and in the context of this thread, we work for good to win out over evil. Evil will always get its hands on the tools of death, regardless of the amount of gun control you want to legislate. But more good, and less evil will ultimately be most beneficial.

Good luck.

Good piece; thanks.

Reminds me of the asinine and disastrous one-size-fits-all legislation known as obamaKare that does far more harm than good.

Nice read, good to see someone from the "other side" come to the realization that "trying anything" probably isn't a reasonable course of action.

I really have no dog in the fight between you two on abortion. I am curious when you plan on knocking on my door to confiscate my guns, however.

The more I read about the meticulous planning and attention to detail that the murderer went thru in carrying this out, the more ridiculous seems the discussion about gun control. This guy was going to kill a lot of people, and he would have done it one way or the other. To suggest this is a result of a "gun problem" is superfluous and disingenuous. Trying to advance that political agenda in light of this is like dancing on the graves of the victims.

All true.

However, the fact still remains that making a bomb is quite a bit tougher, and tends to put you on the radar. And authorities are learning from car/truck attacks on large gatherings. So I do think there is merit to the idea that the deaths/injuries are considerably less if he doesn't have that kind of firepower.

Although I'd say it's pretty likely he would have attained these firearms illegally, just as easily. But the more hoops you have to jump through, the more likely you are to attract attention. Of course, if that were the case cross-referencing him probably leads to the conclusion he's a hobbiest and would not have been further scrutinized.

^^^^I don't see a problem with making "bump stocks" illegal. But the discussion is all over the board, most of which just an excuse to exploit the situation for political gain.

If purchasing an automatic weapon is illegal, then buying anything to make it perform like an automatic weapon should also be illegal. Seems pretty simple to me.

I'm waiting for the investigation to conclude because i don't think we have enough info yet. But there is a lot of pieces to this puzzle that don't add up for me. I'm hoping when all is said and done they have some sort of motive.

Not one that is going to cause dozens, or hundreds of casualties. And, ummm, a lot of people who try end-up blowing themselves up first.

You can also shoot similarly by using your thumb tucked into a belt loop, or teach yourself how to do it with your shoulder. The stock just makes it easier. Also the guy had an hour, banning it wouldn't have stopped it. However the stock also serves no real purpose so if you want to ban it then fine. It'll pretend make people feel safer.

Sheriff said they were on scene after 11 minutes, and then proceeded cautiously because the shooting had stopped.
