Looks like your points generally boil down to your being smarter than most everyone else. Those who don't see it like you do - "most people" - don't understand basic civics and don't know the difference between a monarch and a president. So our country is basically a soup bowl of dumbasses who fail to see the wisdom in your point of view.

When Trump goes the rest of his presidency without issuing ONE executive order, then maybe we can we can celebrate the president admirably forcing Washington to function the way it was designed. Until then, this appears to be Trump catering to his base by showing that "were it up to me, these children get deported."

Build that wall Trump!!!!!!! Make Hondoras pay for it!!!!! Brilliant.

Stop it. Get a hold of yourself and look at this action on its own merits, and judge other executive actions on their merit when they occur. I am not sure whether rescinding the previous kings orders qualifies. I know, I know,... but, but,but TRUMP!

You are exactly what I was referring to about people lacking basic civics knowledge. The Constitution is not one giant opinion... it functions according to a set of rules.
I am not saying anything different from what I posted on previous threads when BHO was president. Executive orders are not for construction of major law. They are for obvious things that Congress would rubber stamp.... or for the necessary and immediate function of government on a temporary basis. Kings and dictators issue orders and proclamations and they become law. In the United States, Congress does that.

DACA remains intact for the next 6 months pending Congressional action... if no action is taken , then the executive will issue new orders as is his prerogative. He could leave it the same, tweak it, or eliminate it.

Thats it! Nothing else. No bullshit, hype or spin.

I honestly didn't know that, and wasn't the impression I got from casually following this on the usual drive-by media.

I'm not paying a whole lot of attention to Trump coverage any more - the liberal media is 5X worse than they ever thought Fox was with Obama. There are no sane people left straddling the fence - there are no more people to convince Trump is a crooked, stupid bully. And, actually, the media has been more than a little distracted from a Congress as dysfunctional and divided as ever.

DACA was an end run around Congress, who have the constitutional duty to pass immigration law. Trump merely kicked it back to Congress who now have the responsibility to pass immigration law properly. that will require the democrats to stop their blatant obstruction for political purposes, and conservative republicans to compromise. Considering the dysfunction in Washington, Trump indeed may have to "revisit" this in 6 months.

The problem is that at least half this country is so constitutionally ignorant, that they fail to see that he has returned the power to the people. Well - and I don't have much good to say about Trump, and what is good I think is usually unintentional or by accident - this would seem to be an example of "draining the swamp". Although, thus far he seems to be exposing mostly Republicans.

What I mean is, Paul Ryan and the Repubs opposed DACA and cried about Obama executive overreach. What we are seeing now is that was purely a cover for them not having to make politically difficult choices that could hurt their re-election (and same thing with Obamacare). Trump - unlike Obama - is not providing cover for his political "party", much less Congress. That SHOULD be a good thing, except history shows Americans are disgusted by Congress but stupidly keep re-electing their reps.

And the hilarity of this part, considering that I don't think a lot of the more hard-core conservatives on this site are anything close to millenials, but spent a lot of the last eight years making those "king", "emperor", etc. comments towards Obama. But apparently part of getting old is being able to absolve your generation of any real or perceived sins and shunting it all on the younger ones.

I'm a little confused, so perhaps somebody can fill me in.

BUT

I just heard about 5 minutes or so of Rush Limbaugh. And... he was bashing republicans.

Did something happen to his viewpoint that I don't know about? Is he still a conservative or did he pull a Sleeper? lol
I'm seriously asking because I don't remember him acting this way, not that I was a fan at any rate, but still!

A lot conservatives including myself railed on President Obama for his overreach on executive actions for the reasons I posted in in post #152. I'm not absolving or damning any generation, only those individuals who didn't pay attention in Government class.
My comment toward millenials was about them thinking that executive overreach is normal, having grown up politically in that environment. Is it any wonder why every time Trump rescinds an Obama executive order they blow a gasket?
...and when I say "they" I'm including members of any generation who think the President is a "king". In a sense I'm absolving younger people because that has been the way it was during their entire political lives.

Well, two or three possiblities:
1) Trying desperately to put square peg Trump into the round conservative hole. They aren't aligned, so I'd guess Rush has decided his audience leans Trump, so he blames the Republican establishment

2) Republicans talked "conservative values" to win seats when they couldn't do anything....and now they won't follow thru. It's the feeling that "establishment Republicans" aren't conservatives, but actually moderate Democrats pushed to the other side of the aisle by the libtardism running the Democratic party.

3) What do you expect from a guy who loves Ted Cruz? That guy WOULD be the conservatard version of Ron Paul, except that he's a huge phony.

Still on that tropist meme? A "base" is not comprised of a tiny percent of the electorate. If I was going to talk about a "racist base", I might look at the demographic that votes 90%+ uniformly for one party, election after election. I suppose gay people that vote republican must care more about denying rights of others than gaining rights for themselves.

Congress plans to work for 12 days this month after a short month long vacation. I think nothing getting done is a safe wager. Kicking the debt ceiling down the road a couple months is another safe wager.

He and other conservative commentators have always bashed republicans when it is believed they have been insufficiently conservative or capitulated to Democrats.

I saw twitter outraged today about something Trump did with the debt ceiling but I didn't look into it. Ran out of SMH for the day.
