Just a thought -
Networks were unhappy because of their local news getting low viewership. Fox is currently the only major network that throws to local news at 10, so perhaps they will let the local news go at 10. Leno 10:30 - 11:30, Conan 11:30-12:30 (or vice versa)

Good call. I sometimes can't make it til 1130 and prefer the 10 news.

Very interesting thought. But I think Leno is failing because his show just isn't good. People liked him at 11:30 but they just don't like the new format. Same kind of applies for lots of fans of Conan.

Also, where would Conan go? ABC would be the only option, assuming they would axe or bump Nightline and Jimmy Kimmel. Most money for Conan would probably be Late Night and I don't know why he couldn't go back. Eventually Conan's Late Night audience gets older and then maybe he can successfully draw at the 11:30 time slot.

I would also assume that both shows would be reformatted back to what worked for them in the past - they have till the olympics end to figure it out. The statement NBC made was quite vague but does not state that Leno will be at the 11:30 slot.
Part of Conans problem is that he left alot of his writers and staff back in NYC.

Leno at 11:30
Conan at 12:30 (his humor is more suited for that time slot)
Carson at 1:30

I just read on TMZ that they told Conan to accept Leno going to 11:35 or get out.

This is complete bullshit. Leno needs to leave and never come back.

Conan is getting shafted, but I'm sure his contract calls for comforting compensation.

Both shows stink, so I don't have a horse in this race.

Was even reported on the local news, so there must be a lot of truth to this rumor. Still, would have to be tough for Conan to get sent back to the minors. Then again, he could be laughing all the way to the bank.

But if I had made the money those guys have, I'd be content to retire to something that's much less hours and relax a bit.

I don't get why people say Conan is failing because his humor isn't suited for 11:30?

I don't know about you, but I have the same sense of humor at 11:30 as I do 12:30... smh..

Can what O'Brien does actually be called comedy? For me there is one essential ingredient missing from his schtick to be called comedy.......the 'funny' part.

He, and his show, are awful.

The only thing I find funny is that people watch Jay Leno, this clown has never and will never be funny, the only funny part of his show was the Jaywalking bit and that had nothing to do with him.

I hate Jay Leno, I would love to just punch him in his giant head

Conan is a genius, 10x better than Leno's show, in my opinion.

Agreed with both of the previous posters. I really never found Leno funny. Seems too fake, or like he is trying to hard. When he was on at 11:30, I always watched Letterman. Now that Conan is on at 11:30, I always watch him. Problems is that at 11:30, we aren't seeing the Masturbating Bear and Pimpbot anymore!

Conan is funny. Some people just don't appreciate his style of comedy/funny.

I think Letterman is unfunny. I'd rather watch Jay.

Conan is a comedic genius. His writing on the Simpsons and SNL proved to be some of the best comedy writing in the last 20 years.

Compared to what? I'm reading quite a bit now about how it will be ok if Conan is forced out because he will be well compensated. This sounds a little like Charlie Weis, doesn't it? He's not very funny but very expensive. It used to be that you got what you paid for. Not so much anymore...

Conan was funny but whether it's lack of writers, the new format, or time his show has lost a lot. I always thought Leno's monologue and other stuff like Jaywalking and Headlines was good, but he's suffered as well on the new show.

Whatever the reason, the change didn't work for them or for NBC. But to say the guys aren't talented or funny is grossly off base.

yea know, I've tried to watch Jay, but his chin keeps gett'in in the way. It's just to annoying and very hard to concentrate. Conan....I've had a better time watching water drip from my sink.
