I was able to see a little at the beginning and a little at the end, but for the majority of the time we had to much cloud cover.

My wife asked why we couldn't see through the clouds with the special dollar glasses from Wal-Mart. I think that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard her say.

Made the trip from Columbus yesterday. Traffic jam in Louisville meant we could only get within five exits of Tennessee, but still within the path of totality.

Totally worth it. More beautiful than I imagined, much more vivid than pictures can convey. The moment the last sliver of sun disappeared, it was like huge circular torch igniting, WHOOMP. Very dramatic change. Sky turned deep twilight-blue, not black. Venus appeared nearby, but no stars visible. Temps dropped about 15 degrees. Lasted about two minutes.

You could easily see to drive, but you'd still want headlights on.

The drive back to Columbus was a bear, though. Took nine hours. Heavy traffic going north on I-65 all the way to Cinci, then construction backed us up even more.

This all sounds great and I am jealous, but a nine hour one way drive would have negated it for me.
