It's worth noting that the fact that the kid isn't used that often might be WHY he's averaging that many yards a carry. When you become the feature back in a run offense, you become the focus of the defense. Just the way it works.green machine;1876800 wrote:There is a problem with the coaching at smithville. Clock management is horrible and cost us a win at Chippewa. We have a RB averaging over 7 yards a carry but yet he only gets 4 to 7 carries a game, we hardly use him,,,why??? But more than anything why are there only 30 kids playing football and 31 playing soccer? I think it is a direct reflection on the coaching staff not building relationship with these kids, but its kinda hard to do when not one coach on the staff is teacher or anything. No one at school during the day to recruit or build relationships with these boys. These problems have always been there but a 5-0 start will hide things but 2 losses in a row will make them noticeable again.
I still have a lot of confidence in most of the coaching as a whole. I say if they manage two wins in the next three weeks, they still eek into the playoffs at 7-3. But if they do in fact go 6-4, they're definitely out.
For the record, when I played, there were years where I virtually never saw anyone in the coaching staff during the fall while in school. That didn't really make much of a difference, and I don't think that has NEARLY the effect that others think it does.
