What is the greatest TV show of all-time and why? I stumbled across this article (http://time.com/4038170/100-best-television-shows/). I'll add a poll, but I'm not including "I Love Lucy" because Belly will be the only one who votes for it.

It's hard to rate sitcoms against hour long shows with massive budgets, i.e. GoT.
Seinfield, for me, is the GOAT sitcom.

hard to leave M*A*S*H off this list, but Sopranos is my personal favorite

Not my top 1, but the Wire is in the top 10 for sure.
GoT, barring an incredible flop to close out, will be my top show ever.

3. Breaking Bad
4. Curb (Seinfeld on steroids. Seinfeld is great, but because of the time, had limitations Curb didn't have to deal with)
5. Seinfeld/Lost/Sopranos/FNL (I honestly couldn't choose between these 4)

Interesting. Not sure I disagree, but I never made it thru all the seasons of Curb and I watched pretty disjointedly. I will say, although I might agree Curb is overall better and edgier, it's never had the same pop culture influence. Debate whether that's a fair measure, but I don't think any show in the last 20-30 years had a greater influence on pop culture than Seinfeld (Friends might be close, SNL possibly in the Carvery/Hartman/Farley heydey).
Drama really is a completely different animal. My favorite drama is probably the Shield, edging out GoT slightly. Sopranos, Lost and The Wire have to get knocked down for having a few mediocre seasons.

Is there anyone else who cannot stand sitcoms? I cannot think of one sitcom that I enjoyed. They're too corny and fake for me.

Forgot about Married with Children (not that it would change my answer, but probably my #2-3 comedy behind Seinfeld & Curb).
And I don't think any great drama has been more consistently excellent than The Americans.

like I posted earlier, when I was young the sitcom SOAP broke every taboo there ever was but times were so different in the 70's because there was no PC. I liked them when I was a kid, but never watch them now unless I'm at a friend's and they have one on. Married With Children was great, though, and if you add animation, The Simpsons was awesome for a while. But now, it's nothing but dramas for me; almost always premium-station dramas. Well, I was never allowed to watch much tv growing up and now as an adult, I just don't take the time to make the time to sit down and watch some tv.
The exception to this is American Horror Story and this is why I vote for Other. But I guess that's on the outskirts of mainstream, so...
Seinfeld.

My two favorite tv shows are Mythbusters and the old Top Gear UK, now known as Grand Tour on Amazon.

2. Broadcast on NBC, before cable. So the reach is exponentially greater than an HBO show
3. Is in Syndication
Not that it takes anything away, just basic facts. Seinfeld absolutely has the larger impact for those reasons, but I wouldn't make that point as one to raise it above. I'd say the fact it hits home for more people between the characters all having plot lines, versus say, if it was only George — which is basically what Curb is, is a larger reason.

The Wonder Years and Married with children are my two favorite. I do not watch a whole lot of tv now unless it is sports related.
