When you're painting a room in your house, what paint do you typically use? We've always used Valspar in the past, and have been mostly happy with it. I've heard people swear by Behr paint, as well. I'm considering Benjamin Moore for our new house as we've got a ACE right down the street and I've heard really good things about BM paint.

Used Valspar Reserve on some exterior trim and absolutely loved it.

I've used Valspar and Behr and there isn't that much difference. Both are good.

Nothing but Sherwin Williams.....

I've used many kinds of paint over the years and have found that Sherwin Williams, while expensive is the best.....

We use nothing but Sherwin Williams as well. You pay a little more, but the quality is by far the best. Ask any commercial painter in the US, and 95% of them go to Sherwin Williams.

Can't go wrong with Sherwin Williams. It is a little more expensive but it is well worth it. It covers well and holds up well.

That looks interesting. What is the point of that? I've never seen something like that before.

No need to drywall or put up drop-ceiling. We currently have drop-ceiling in the basement of the new house that I'll be ripping out at some point. I might go this route and just black it out.

My gf's parents have done that in their basement. It's really nice, even though it's pretty dark. You just have to make sure you have good lighting.

I wish I had more up to date and better pictures. Those are not finished products.

Pretty much. I've seen people paint them white or gray for non-finished or partially finished basements as well.

Yes paint everything flat black. Its amazing how everything disappears from your vision when black. Like posted above, plan on a lot more lighting. Set all your can lights before painting also. Also out outlets in your ceiling for added light like rope lighting

Myself. Bought the 5 gallon Sherwin Williams paint. It went on great. I was lucky and borrowed a industrial sprayer. It took 20 minutes for the whole thing. It took longer to clean the sprayer then it did to paint. Buy the good paint barrier paper for the floor. You will need it

The finished area of our basement is about 330 square feet, so it's not a very big space.

I think I'd rather hire a bum off the street than invite that guy into my home.

Big fan of Martin-Senour, which is a line of Sherman-Williams. I like their Colonial (Williamsburg) colors.
