I'm also in the contracting field. I'm a business development rep. for an infrastructure/ construction firm.
I love it as it is something I did not think I would be doing 5 years ago, but here I am.

Dream job, probably some tenured academic job where all I would have to do is travel to conferences, drink, and occasionally write/ teach. That was my path initially when I was at a DC think tank, but life happens and other doors open up.

My son is working on his B.S. in Cyber Operations and Cyber Security at the Naval Academy right now. He never wavered in his desire to go there. It was always his number one choice but after going through plebe summer and finishing his first semester he told me that if any applicant has any doubt in their mind about choosing a service academy then it's definitely not for them.

You may have made the right choice.

Retire business owner of two business operating at the same time: Engineering, Architectural, Manufacturing Supply /Equipment Company and the other was Design and Development Custom Instrumentation for the Heavy Equipment Market.

Presently I came out of retirement because I was bored and the wife still has two more years before she can retire from her professional career.

I’m National Corporation Sale Manager, Heavy Diesel Equipment Market, a friend company was having problems and needed someone to step in to help. He made me an offer and I took it. This position is want I did when I first got started in business after I stopped teaching/coaching and started my family. I do regret giving up my teaching/coaching but family comes first. I’m loving what I do now, meeting people, solving issue and making thing happen (back to my roots) . I will walk away in two years happy.

Im proud of my career, accomplishments and what I have achieved, would I have wished for something more or different …yes but what that would be I'm not sure.

Construction Management. I also do some part time work on the radio, though I've cut that way back over the years (mostly sports broadcasting now).

I've gotten to know some folks from the Ohio Media School who are studying sports broadcasting. It's fun watching them work a Columbus State CC basketball game. I understand quite a few OMS graduates find decent work in the field after they're done with school. Seems like a great field to work in if you're a sports junkie.

I did it for 4 years, coupled with the "behind the scenes" of sports broadcasting. Eventually I went full time off camera. I made the decision because to make any real money, you have to be 1 of the few who didn't play st a professional level.

I love what I do, there are no 2 days the same, but I'm still looking forward to hanging it up in a little over 3 years. I'm not sure what I'll do when I retire, but for sure it will be something I want to do rather than something I need to do.

I'm a Drilling Engineer for an Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Company. I really love what I do and feel like I'm awesome at it. If I could go back in time I would have quit the company I work for about 5 years ago. The culture here was beautiful, and I passed over 3 different opportunities to jump ship, each of which were for more money, because of how much fun I had at work and how great this place took care of me when my dad died and when my son was sick. About 3.5 years ago this place flipped on it head and has steadily decayed into a place where just about everyone (myself included) is miserable at the thought of coming to work.

I don't think there is a better suited career for my personality. I have always been fascinated with stand up comedy and am pretty funny in most situations, but 100% sure I'd literally shit my pants if I ever faced an actual audience.

Business should be turning around soon ?

I own an industrial safety supply company--we handle personal protection equipment (eye, face, head & hearing protection), respiratory products, industrial absorbents, etc.--I like it since I work my own hours, have good people working for me, and make some pretty good money--and best of all, little or no stress.

I am an estimator and construction supervisor, if I could have done anything differently I would have pursued a career as a homicide detective.

Did two years of jr high and high school health and also phys ed at same level. Coached 5 years of track and 4 of those years was only coach for both boys and girls...jr high and varsity....at a school without a track [emoji3].

Chemical Combustion Application Engineer. I do everything from R/D on emission formation in industrial combustion to combustion system design to EPA type emission reduction projects for industry.

i like the more technical days (research, emissions stuff) hate the paperwork and dealing with government regulations.

I work in retail management as a operations manager at a major office supply retailer. I enjoy it.

I do both. It really is a lot of prep work if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about. I spend probably 2-3 days (about 4 hours each day) prepping before a game, calling coaches, etc. Like Laley said, there isn't much money in it. It's more of a hobby for me, I enjoy going to the games anyway. I used to do my own teeny-bopper call in / request show. That was fun too, but I just don't have time any more with my kids getting older.
