I see no complaining on my part, I explained a situation and ask if anyone else has had this experience. I find in hilarious you follow my every post and thread. I could of cared less for Bernie or his political ideology, he was never going to president. My daughter ns her family is not wealthy, my children make their own path in life. Until I'm dead my wealth and personal material possessions are held between my wife and I. we do plan on slowly giving my three daughters some items as we get older and start to down size.

My daughter was a 4.0 valedictorian and was in everything at school. ACT was a 28. She received a $4,000 scholarship for Marshall University for their honor's program...but had to keep a 3.5 in the pre pharmacy curriculum. She received one other $2000 scholarship. She had two friends that scored 25 and 26 on their ACT and during their senior year lost their valedictorian status....but each received numerous scholarships. One received 9 different smaller scholarships totaling $13,500 and other received 6 totaling $9500. Both of her friends were also kids of divorced parents which seemed to be way more important than grades/scores throughout the entire class.

To add to this after her two years of the pre pharmacy requirements just got into the school of pharmacy. We knew going in that even though it was only 60 miles away, it was out of state and tuition was considerably more. She was forced to live on campus both years and after her 2nd summer had an apartment lined up and stayed down there working at her pharmacy tech job. Her first year of pharmacy school was $12,000 more and the $4000 scholarship was gone.....she obtained WV residency but this coming year she was then charged the extra $12000 again. We argued the charge but apparently whatever residency status you begin pharmacy school....that's what it stays all 4 years. So a shitty shitty extra $36,000.

Good side is it's 6 total years and she's doing well and set with an internship that will have her a job when ready.

Taking out parent loans does suck.

US News & World Report is the most common ranker of schools. They have them at 194 (out of 310) in National Universities with a score of 29/100. They are #103 (out of 133) in Top Public Schools. Also have an acceptance rate of 76% which is not really that selective.

Go to a JUCO for a few years and then transfer to a 4 year school. At the end of the day, your degree and in turn the job you get doesnt care that you spent 2 years at a JUCO. Cuts the amount in almost half and it doesnt mean anything when it comes to getting a job.

Holy crap, there are over 2,400 4 year universities in the US.

I think you need to be careful here. OSU is not great at getting it in four years anyway, but I had friends who went to Columbus state and then not everything transferred so it took them a little longer to graduate.

Tuition is $10,200, room is $5400, meal plan another $3000. That's $18600, and don't be a moron and buy your books, rent them online or don't get em if the class doesn't use them.

Then after her sophomore year she'll get a house with friends and that campus living bs goes away and the cost lowers even more.

She'll enjoy it though, BG may not be the greatest school in the world but I've never heard of anyone not enjoying it, personally I had a blast. Also a degree especially from either the college of education or college of business carries a good amount of weight. It's set me up pretty well

That said, I don't know anything about their education program. I would venture to say there's many more options for a better education program to go into. Research that side. I work at a school that has 100% placement for teachers BEFORE graduation -- at least has for the last 3 years in which I've been here. Meanwhile, people still choose other schools nearby with much worse programs. My wife graduated from a school in Kentucky that was tops in the state for education. Both of these are private schools.

Make college cheaper. Do some CLEP exams. Take some summer courses. Shop around. There's no reason for a non-athlete in an education program to pay much for school. Heck, she could probably go part-time and get quality work experiences to be much farther ahead than the rest of the students that choose to go traditional undergrad. The ability to do online courses, night school, weekends, etc. while also working in an educational setting offers up so many better opportunities than traditional undergrad.

my experience of going to Bowling Green University was $3,000 is probably a good budget for just Lambrusco

Taking college credit courses in high school can cut a year and a half off college, but your high school has to offer it and you have to qualify. Has been a real bonus for parents in our school district. Higher education is too, costly. Stop building new buildings. Bernie's partly right, but for free?
