I'm just waiting on the little twats to organize a showing-up at some place in West Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama, Tennessee, etc.

Anyone see the douche bags at Notre Dame walking out on Pence's speech? I'm sure their $40k humanities degree will get them far in life.
If someone spoke that I disagreed with that much (Pelosi, Reid, etc) I just wouldn't go to graduation. Walking out is dumb.

I was at ND's graduation ceremony last year, and Biden spoke. I don't like his politics and a lot of his beliefs, but I sat there and listened and respected his speech for the value I found in it.

I didn't get up and walk out because I'm not a self centered douchebag.

That's why I used Reid and Pelosi. I dislike Obama and Biden but would go if it were them, especially bc of the position they are/ were in. Kinda wish someone would have stood up and called them out, or Pence had.

You only act this way if you drink the kool-aid and are as ignorant as the people who so outrage and disgust you.

Goes deeper than just being self-centered, I think. They are getting wound-up and put into motion like puppets of a cult. They're brownshirts, and they would hate themselves if they had the clarity of self-awareness.

I don't have a problem with a peaceful walk-out. Better than the Berkeley mob scene. What I have a problem with is why is this newsworthy? 100 "protesters" out of the total number of Notre Dame graduates is what less than 3%? Quite obviously they don't represent the majority of the Notre Dame graduates. Why give them national news coverage?

Pence is a bigot. I think it's more telling that most of the graduating class stayed rather than left; we have a long way to go as a nation.

Yup, It will get worse before it gets better. Our fellow regressives are promoting segregation and disenfranchisement without even knowing it.

I don't know why this is even a story. Pres. Obama gave a commencement address in 2009???? and graduates protested by walking out. Big deal. There's some 3,100 graduates at Notre Dame this year and a few didn't want to hear the VP. Yawn.

Or we could stand up to bigotry instead of endorsing it. If Pence wants to speak at a graduation ceremony perhaps he should stop restricting the rights of others through action and keep his regressive redneck ideology to his own life.

But, I think a good many of them DO know it. They just don't care because it suits their various agendas. Whether Marxism, anarchism or communisim, they align themselves with anybody who also has self-fulfilled grievances so that they can band together and "get things done" By Any Means Necessary.

They are also changing the very definitions of words to suit their purposes. Not to mention the fact that they are propagandizing the meaning of the 1st amendment to label anything that they don't like as hate speech and saying that it is illegal. Then they use this fabrication to push violence at peaceable assemblies.

This is what the democrats are ultimately condensing themselves to. History will not be kind to the democrats of this period.

But I do agree that things can definitely get worse...

Betsy DeVos spoke at FSU's graduation. I'd probably walk out on her but that's about it.

I don't think walking out or protesting at a graduation is appropriate. Families are there to see their kids graduate - nobody wants to be subjected to political bullshit on that occasion.

And I thought Trump's remarks at that graduation were wrong, too.

This. There's a time and place. Families and students are there celebrating years of dedication and hard work. No one GAF if you don't like Pence. Just sit there.

Then ND should have political figures give speeches. Let's start there.

Gosh a ruddies. If you want to have a celebration of the all the graduating students hard work and dedication, do not invite a speaker who some of the students would find despicable. Hey South Bend is in a state ruled for years by Mike Pence. People had a real basis for judgement of him and the bigoted policies he espoused. Why should gay students have to suffer his presence at their graduation.

That's a very fair point. But I'd have to see the context of what he says. Only walk out for what he's saying and not for what you think he represents.

You cannot please everyone. By the time one graduates from college they should have matured to a level where respect for others is commonplace, regardless if you happen to disagree with them politically, and you will act accordingly. If, after the ceremony, you wish to express your viewpoints regarding the remarks made by the speaker, then write a letter to the student newspaper etc... Doing otherwise merely points to the fact that those who walk out are little more than spoiled, immature, brainwashed brats.
