Words, under no circumstance, give a person a right to commit assault in "self defense". Words by themselves can not be an act of aggression. Even if I screamed "I'm going to kill you" while being the craziest person you've ever seen, from across the room and without a weapon would not give you the right to assault me in a pre-emptive act of self-defense.

It could only be context around an action such that it contributes to a reasonable person perceiving a threat necessitating an "pro active" act of self defense.

I'm starting to wonder if the "3/5 Compromise" is being taught correctly in many schools. Because if it was, I don't think you'd see many of these people acting out in this way because they would have a better understanding of the whats, whys and hows and wouldn't be acting out in this manner.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources oversees the parks and made the decision.

The painting shows Morgan on horseback and another soldier holding a Confederate battle flag.
Morgan led a raid through Ohio during the Civil War in 1863 before he and his men were captured near East Liverpool.
He escaped and fled Ohio but was later killed.
Several Ohio cities have removed Confederate markers in the wake of last week’s violent white-nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Apparently, you forgot the whole Charleston shooting and the discussion of race and the south after that. Go figure.
This is not a new issue and has been discussed and debated for years.

Plus, it is not erasing history, as I said it is putting it in its proper context. The statues were created largely by the Daughters of the Confederacy to warp the reasons why the South left and lost. They are created to show blacks who was in charge and a constant reminder of racism and slavery. The statues do not deserve the honor of being in a public square. Instead, they should in museums or cemeteries put in their proper context.
Why should there be a monument in a public park celebrating the people who fought against this country instead of a monument celebrating how great this country is?

I also add that taking down statues of Washington and Jefferson are dumb and that is a false equivalent.
