Well said. I think this is what kills the Democrats so much in the Midwest, it's a more socially conservative place where that line of thinking really doesn't work. If Kasich would have beaten Trump the wins in this part of the country would have been absolutely massive

The two parties certainly have devolved. Looking back, there's no way Kennedy could be a successfully-elected President as a Democrat today. And there's no way Eisenhower could have won as a Republican in today's version of the party. They would have been crucified by their own parties.
