Pretty scary to think of how Gatlinburg is set up right between the mountains of trees and the wildfires going on...and traffic always sucks anyways.

Hope the fires don't get into the town. A lot of memories growing up on vacations there. Not much has changed in 30 years.

Some scary videos with the fires right off the road. A few FB friends have people there and can't get out of the parking lots.

An hour later and friends friends still stuck in same parking lot.

Good. The storm is moving a little too much NE it appears to get the long duration but should get at least a few really good hours of rain and the 25 mph winds die down to nothing. Hope that's enough but don't know how much is needed to end those significant problems.

Took them 90 min to get from Gatlinburg parking lot to Pigeon Forge.

Damn, woman who worked with my wife for a few years just posted on FB they just arrived this morning for vacation stay. Noticed fires getting too close for comfort and on way down mountain and halfway down police had road blocked not allowing them thru and turned around to another road and tree partially on fire had fallen into road blocking traffic. Her husband and other men managed to get tree far enough to get thru but as they are going back to their jeep another burning tree fell and hit their car doing significant damage but still drivable and made it to Pigeon Forge to the part that hasn't been evacuated.

Not the vacation I would be looking for.

Hate this. Was down there for a week in March, lucked out with nothing but 70s and 80s the whole time. One of my absolute favorite vacation spots

Was just there 3 weeks ago and they said the potential for fire was through the roof. Really hope it doesn't last too long.
