Agreed

Never as good as i think it'll be. I can drink, overeat, and watch football every weekend.

It's a rest holiday cause I get to see so many friends and family. Have 4 days off. And there isn't the stipulation of gifts/spending money.

The food is great, but I have 10 meals better throughout the year (granted, have to pay). But to me it's a great holiday for the other reasons...the meal is a bonus.

Food is average, but I really enjoy the selection of 10+ pies.

Not sure this year. The girlfriend's family is absolutely massive as her dad is one of 10 and they have just a giant thanksgiving. But my Dad might be able to get Lions/Vikings tickets so I'm mildly torn as that will be a hell of a game.

I don't really get into the holidays much either as my parents went through a nasty divorce which led them to not really do anything during Thanksgiving and Xmas anymore

I eat at some of the best restaurants in the world on a weekly basis so going to someone's house for homemade turkey in usually unsanitary conditions is not really for me.

I understand that this is probably a highlight of your lives though. Hope you enjoy it!

I work in DC. It's pretty easy to drop into a world class restaurant whenever I want.

Well just recently I had the opportunity to check out Pineapple and Pearls.

I'm always open to restaurant recommendations if you have any. Price isn't a factor for me.

Thanksgiving is the best holiday for time off. Basically come in for a couple of hours Wednesday morning and tie up any loose ends, take the guys who work for me to lunch (with beers) and then tell em to take the rest of the day off and get ready for a 4.5 day weekend.

You would be lucky to have a friend like me.

My group of friends are the people who buy tickets; not sell them.

Good restaurant, but not even close to one of the finest in DC, let alone the world. DC doesn't have any 3 star Michelin establishments, they only have two 2 star establishments, and about a handful of 1 star establishments. Bit of an exaggeration to say you are surrounded by the world's best restaurants.

I'm sure the world cares what the troll trash think of the DC restaurant scene.

With that said, I've probably been to all the restaurants you consider "the finest in DC" and I can tell you P&P is hard to top. I don't expect troll trash to have a palate or understand Michelin stars; those will come in time. The scene is getting stronger every year and the competition is getting tougher; I have no doubt that DC will be known as the the top food scene in the country in due time.

DC is getting better, but it's not going to top NYC anytime soon in our lifetime. You can take that to the bank.

You also live in VA, so you can't claim DC anymore.

Ah, cool, we've gotten to the point of the thread where it's taken over by Sleeper being a parody of his former self with an imagination-lacking "I'm so rich I can't even conceive of lowering myself to eating homemade food" line. It's funny because it's so obviously forced and artificial.
