QO just used them as a political authority, and yet, were this September, or anytime before the election in 2012, he would likely be decrying their political position. It would seem as though we treat them as authorities only during times in which they support our own positions ... which really doesn't make them authorities.

Right now, I'm just sitting back and waiting. They were the top donor to the Obama '12 campaign, and they were top-5 for Clinton in this election.
Just saying.
Has nothing to do with their political leanings; it is an article that talks about sectors doing better under Trump.

So far, I am liking his appointments ....... how refreshing to have people that are not solely aligned with academia, law and BIG government heading up these agencies; people who have actually done something productive.

Goldman-Sachs is just doing what they always do: positioning themselves on the side of the incumbent. They've been a major donor to BOTH major candidates in the last several elections. Had Trump taken public donations in mass quantities, I've no doubt they'd be on there in his camp, too. But he didn't. So what are they doing now? They're posturing.
All this to say that they've recently made sure that they've had skin in every camp. To think that this is a genuine assessment is to ignore the political involvement they've had up to this point. Their assertion holds no water, because there's too much precedent to indicate self-serving motives for the claim itself.

Trump looks to have selected former General Matthis for SECDEF.
Interesting as it will require Congress to change the law to allow him to serve as he was in uniform.
It is an interesting choice as I am not a big fan of a former general recently removed to serve as the leader of the biggest agency in the Government.
But, could be worse, and I like a lot of Matthis' ideas over the last 15 or so years.
The only thing is now there are two former generals in the highest national security positions: National Security Adviser and SECDEF. That is rare and something to def. watch.

I tell you what.....at least it will be interesting when he has press conferences. I imagine when he is in office it will be a little more tempered, but it is must see tv.
