Long ass week and watched the Reds actually look great and went to bed knowing another long day today. With baseball started I just gaze through NBA box scores and don't catch many games until Rd 2 of playoffs.Commander of Awesome;1846472 wrote:Jazz are a tough team, prob bounced in the first round depending on matchup but tough. Exum isn't what advertised, but he's playing a solid defensive game tonight.
Where's Ironman tonight, I assume he's watching ball.
Choosing Tribe/Dbacks tonight for majority of my watching.

He ruined the Nuggets season. The crowd and player reactions after that shot are priceless.

Seriously, who gives a shit about Russell Westbrook or triple doubles?
Can't wait for the playoffs to start so that his accomplishments will be regular season stat stuffers rather than meaningful, relevant things to talk about.

If you watched enough of his games, you could tell he was stat stuffing. Intentionally passing on open shots just to get assists.SportsAndLady;1846656 wrote:Seriously, who gives a shit about Russell Westbrook or triple doubles?

A lot of people. It is impressive. I'm most impressed he averaged over 10 rebounds a game for a guard.SportsAndLady;1846656 wrote:Seriously, who gives a shit about Russell Westbrook or triple doubles?

And honestly 20 years from now more people will probably remember this feat more than who won the championship.

Not really. How often do you hear "Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double for a season?" That gets referenced a lot more than who won the title in whatever year he did it (1963)?

He scored 50 points and had 16 rebounds today....on the road. Chipped in 10 assists and made a 35 ft buzzer beater while down 2 for the win.SportsAndLady;1846656 wrote:Seriously, who gives a shit about Russell Westbrook or triple doubles?

Triple doubles aside...he's worth mentioning today for sure.

I've heard way more about those Boston Celtics teams winning an NBA championship than I have Oscar Robertson having great stats that year.Azubuike24;1846668 wrote:Not really. I do t believe that. Celtics winning championships in the 60's as a whole...yeah but don't believe for that year.SportsAndLady;1846673 wrote:I've heard way more about those Boston Celtics teams winning an NBA championship than I have Oscar Robertson having great stats that year.
Winning Championship though 1,000x more important than 40+ triple doubles.

It'll be one of those nice stats like "Lebron is the youngest to score 30,000 points" but who really cares honestly?

I think he's one of a few that can get a triple-double when he wants to, for the most part. He has the right combination of wanting the stats, and playing on a shit team that needs him to.

Yea happens all the time. He is only the first player ever listed 6'3 or under to average 10 or more rebounds a game.SportsAndLady;1846664 wrote:Wow he rebounds.
Plus its not like his team is garbage and won ten games.
I get that winning a title is more important but to shrug his season off as meaningless shows a lack of knowledge of how difficult it is what he did.

Watched video again (son wanted to see it) and the game was in Denver and when he hit the buzzer beater from about 35 ft....the crowd went crazy and Nuggets jersey wearing fans were shown celebrating? WTF?....and had he missed the Nuggets would have been 1 game back for last playoff spot.
I'm a huge MLB fan all around the league but if the Reds are 1 game from last WC spot with 2 games remaining and Giancarlo hits a HR to win it with 2 outs in the 9th....I sure in the hell ain't happy even though Stanton is one of the game's favorites.

He had a triple-double - while breaking the record for them in a season - 50 points and a ridiculous game winner. They damn well better cheer for him even if it meant costing their shot at getting swept by Golden State next week.

I disagree...and I love Russ. I'm passionate but I bet few give the opposition as much respect as I do if they beat my team. If I was a Nuggets fan and was there I would just shake my head in amazement of the shit I just witnessed but I'm not screaming, cheering and jumping up and down.friendfromlowry;1846698 wrote:Any Steelers game thread will show us that you're too passionate, though.

Closest I would come would be at a Reds game and Scherzer getting a 21st strikeout or a perfect game....but not in a pennant race or WC race. After being eliminated and in an 8-0 game, yes I would be like those fans. I mean that 35 ft shot eliminated their team from playoff contention. Nuggets fans have witnessed their franchise winning a 1 vs 8 series while being the 8 seed. Bleak or not...why would they not want a home playoff game vs the Warriors?....or at least the potential.

If my numbers are correct...
Westbrook's Triple Doubles
33 Wins
9 Losses
25 at Home
17 on the road
20 vs Playoff teams(or teams still in the hunt)
22 vs Non-playoff teams (3 vs DEN)
8 of the 20 vs top 5 teams in the league
9 of the 22 vs bottom 5 teams in the league
