No clue why the kicker just doesn't stand there and swing his leg.

3rd and inches, delay of game

Just a big fucking train wreck

Fuck sake arians
Missing that kick was karma for not giving it to their all-world running back one more time to punch it in. NFL coaches can overthink this shit terribly.

Well the odds of not gaining 6 inches and then mishandling a snap have to be close to 0.25%

I'm with Arians, prefer to kick on 3rd down. If it's fucked up you can fall on the ball and kick on 4th down.

Arians didn't play for a FG, they tried for a TD, but when it got to 4th down, the proper strategy was to go for the FG.

My mistake, it was only 3rd down. I agree with Laney on 3rd down strategy. It wasn't like a lot of teams do as soon as they get in range for a 45 yd FG, they don't try to advance any more and stake the game on a long FG -- it drives me crazy for them to settle for that. We've seen the last two nights the devastation a poor kicking game can cause! Arians tried to avoid it more than most, but in the heart had to resort to it. I can't believe that vaulting over the center on a place kick attempt can be legal.

Collinsworth was talking about this. It's legal as long as you don't touch anyone on offense, which it looked like the Seattle player clearly did.

Sadly, the last time I remember that happening was browns/steelers regular season matchup, back in the year the browns made the playoffs. Of course the steelers made the GW winning on their second attempt on 4th down.

That was the first time thinking, "oh wow, kicking on 3rd actually does work."

It's legal if he leaps over the defenders without touching anyone. It's also okay to touch someone if they intianted the contact. So I think it was legal because the olineman intianted the contact reaching his hand up.

i think it has to be kept legal just think how many time Troy Pololumu basically did the same thing. He timed the snap and kept over the oline to get the QB.

I don't wanna remove anymore exciting aspects of football from the game. The athletism and timing is pretty amazing every time it's done

Yeah, agreed. Especially if you are just going to run a bs play and gain nothing, or kneel and lose a yard or two. Just do it on 3rd down.

Another reason to try it on 3rd down. IF the kick is blocked, and the block occurs BEHIND the LOS, if the kicking team recovers it they retain possession and try another kick, or a regular play.

I was unaware that touching is a foul. In NCAA the foul is for LANDING after LEAPING more than a yard from the line of scrimmage. NCAA also has that a defender can not use his foot to propel himself to an advantage.

It is a bit different than what TP did I believe. This rule is about the snapper for kicks. They are afforded a bit of safety to not get hit. If you heard the initial penalty call it was for an illegal defensive formation.
Anyone on the LOS cannot be within the snappers shoulder width and the snapper cannot be touched for like 1 second after his snap. That is, of course, only for punts and fg's so when TP was doing it he was going after the QB/RB.

The kicker was touched in that seattle game...just a little bit by the defenders foot.
