Not to mention NFL pushing TNF and investing a ton of their own money into it. Every team has to play on TNF, so selection is limited...but moving forward wouldn't be shocked to see the NFL find a way to make those matchups be big games.

No problem. ESPN has never been able to show NFL highlights in real time and we're in the verge of having to hold off even during Primtime a few years ago. Their main concern was that, and the game was 2nd, as they thought MNF the product would carry the slot. Bad rating still don't hurt them much, but the severely missed on how badly SNF would kick their ass.

Fred Gaduelli being hired to NBC from ESPN as lead football producernhas literally changed how the NFL is covered, and for the better.

Still surprised, even with the 4th choice each week they couldn't do better.

Looks more like they chose 7th

Am I going crazy? Why was that INT not ruled a safety? The ball was punched out of his hand and wasn't tagged down

Keep in kind, that's 4th choice with restrictions...TNF requirements, only allowed so many primetime requirements, etc. And Carolina vs TB looked damn good preseason as well.

Change of possession started in end zone, I believe that means unless it is exited, it's a touchback. Same as an INT when the man kneels it.

EDIT: thinking more...not sure. If they called it a fumble out of endzone should be safety...

I never knew there was a rule about an int happening in the end zone there would be no need to be tagged down. But I'm sure there is.

As a Carolina defense fantasy owner, I was really yelling for that to be reviewed lol.

(Ended up winning by less than half a point, so I guess no harm done.

I juat know when an INT happens and they kneel, it's a touchback. This would be same principle, but I had never seen it, so I was curious as well.

I have seen it before on interceptions in play, kick returners have used it as well over the years, QBs can down it, and even receivers. It basically falls under giving yourself up. I bet you have seen it more than you realized over the years.

Here is where it atalks about it in the rulebook.

"d) when a runner declares himself down by: (1) falling to the ground, or kneeling, and clearly making no immediate effort to advance
(2) sliding feet-first on the ground. When a runner slides feet first, the ball is dead the instant
he
touches the ground with
anything other than his hands or his feet "

youve seen a defender intercept a pass in the endzone, not declare himself down, have the ball punched out for a what would be fumble out the back of the endzone for a touchback several times??

If he doesn't leave the end zone, wouldn't any fumble by the defense (now the offense) be a touchback regardless?

Right, which is what I initially said. But I had never actually seen it before so wasn't sure. I assumed the rule was the same as a kickoff, interception down by contact, etc.

No..Maybe I missed something......I meant giving himself up by kneeling it down and not getting touched down.

They like to put division games on Thurs night because teams know eachother (travel usually not bad) and already basically have their game plans for them. I think that can affect ratings as well. I know, for me, my viewing usually goes with the steelers first, then division games, conference games and then opposite conference if no other good games piques my interest.

I see we're getting closer to that magical point of the year when Jerry Jones single-handedly sabotages Dallas' season in order to get Romo out there THE VERY SECOND he is reasonably healthy.

Best case scenario: He gets destroyed in the first quarter of his first game back, so Prescott can go back in without any real loss of momentum.

The entire offseason excuses for the cowboys was incredible. "Oh next season with a full season of a healthy Romo..." Considering he's played like 1 full season in his life. Romo must have lemonparty.org type photos of jerry, he's terrible and has always been terrible.

The key is "when he is healthy..." While I wouldnt put it past him to force Romo in the lineup I could also see them keep pushing back when Romo is considered "healthy". If they keep playing well and winning, and if JJ doest interject I wouldnt blame Garrett if he just up and quit...but that wont happen.

I admit I didnt go past the current page and wondered wtf you guys were on never seeing that...but i digress.

I see where the ratings are still projected to be down again. I still think it is just the star power and lack of great and close prime time matchups. Tried to watch it last night with Winston, but there wasnt much happening...

anyone think it really is the debates and protesting?

Thought someone said here that the bengals could redo their helmets but last night the Broncos did.
NOt a very well played game from what I saw but that was my third option behind the Pengiuns then the baseball game.
Ratings have been down...last night had to be bad I would think
