Why not? It's not like there is a ton of quality 1 loss teams out there? OSU is easily the best 1 loss team and has a good amount of quality wins on the road. I can't see a scenario OSU doesn't make it if they win out even assuming they don't make the Big 10 Championship Game.

OSU is in good position, but they also run the risk of being the team outside of their own conference title game heading into the Final Four weekend. We've seen that usually go against the team wanting the nod.

However, say the following happens...

Alabama wins out, wins SEC
Clemson wins out, wins ACC
Washington wins out, wins Pac 12
Louisville wins out, only has 1 loss, to another playoff team, at their place
Ohio State wins out, only has 1 loss

In that scenario, Ohio State would have to be nervous, especially if Penn State does not win the conference (hurting the quality of the 1-loss argument).

...and personally, Ohio State is BETTER than Washington, Louisville and Clemson, but we've seen the same "the nod should go to the conference champ over the at-large team" argument on here before...

The whole being the team not in their conference championship won't hurt OSU as much because OSU has a really impressive schedule to begin with including road night wins against both Oklahoma and Wisconsin. Then also wins over Nebraska and Michigan with their one loss coming from a road night game against PSU (another top 10 team) mind you the tail in of back to back road night games against top 10 opponents.

The conference championship games gives teams a chance to beef up their schedule. OSU has already had a pretty beefy schedule.

Very true, but I've heard the same argument made against non-SEC title winning teams who had top 10 schedules too.

Sagarin has OSU's schedule at 28th. Not bad, but nothing that says "amazing."

I see no chance whatsoever of OSU being #2 and not getting in prior to championships....maybe if Oklahoma dropped 2 games more, Nebraska fell from the rankings ....but still don't see it. Hell if PSU wins out OSU's only loss is a heartbreaker at #4

Also....Colorado will be #10 and still play WSU and Utah so they could be up close if things keep falling

Honestly, this makes it easier on OSU getting in as PSU will be forced to play the extra game now if we both win out. We will be #2 behind Alabama and still have a tough game against UM which will improve our SOS and increase the value of our resume. If we win these next two games we will remain #2 and there is absolutely no way we get jumped by 3 teams after the conference championship games. All of this craziness guarantees we could be first non conference champion to make the final 4.

I would prefer we not have to beat Wisconsin again to get in, so I am happy with how this played out.

The easiest scenario was for Michigan to be unbeaten when they play OSU and then OSU beat UM. OSU would have controlled their own destiny at that point. Now it depends on so many other variables. That said, OSU wins out, they should be in IMO.

Going to be an interesting final few weeks. OSU would be first to get into playoff without winning conference championship. The backlash from the media/conference/fans of the teams left out would be unreal. Hopefully committee has the guts to do it. This could be the year that pushes them to open it to 8 team playoff

You really don't think OSU has a good schedule?

Three road games against top 10 teams, home against a top 25 team and another top 10 team.

They easily in my opinion have the toughest schedule in college football this year.

Crazy night of football. I think it will be tough to leave OSU out of the final four if they win out.

Washington has 1 top 25 win over Utah and then maybe Washington St (which might drop WSU from the top 25)...Stanford likely cracks into the top 25 and they could face Colorado (who if they win out will have defeated WSU giving them 4 losses AND Utah giving them another loss.

So in the end Washington could have wins against Colorado at a neutral site likely putting them #10-#12 in final standings.

Stanford would be around 15th-17th if win out and that game was at Washington.

@Utah who would have 3 losses and around #18

@ WSU who would have 4 losses but guessing just out of top 25

So: #10, #16, @#17

Ohio State wins should remain over that. Michigan around #10 (but beat Colorado [emoji3]), Wisconsin losing to PSU probably puts them around #12...at #12 that is. Say Oklahoma loses again and finishes around #15...at #15 that is and then Nebraska even if they lose at Iowa will be around #20 and OSU dismantled them.

Now if Oklahoma loses at WVU and home vs OSU then that drops OK to around #21-22 in the end.

So at worst OSU defeats #10, @#12, #20 and @#22

Even with everything going Washington's way OSU has better wins AND a better loss.

OK winning 1 of their final 2 is preferred though.

Louisville can't get to OSU's resume....unless Clemson loses and propels them into ACC Champ and VT won't be ranked after losing Champ game and
