If you want to call it that. Deployment in name only but it has a chance to heating up and popping off. Sucks to miss the summer back home and baseball season/NHL playoffs. Do get some web access at times but should be back home around halfway through the NFL season.like_that;1846935 wrote:Deployment?

I'm itching to get something in the works and I've been tracking flights for deals. Costa Rica could still happen, but lately I've been kicking around the idea of Colombia. There are straight flights from NYC to Cartegena, and deals can be had. Anyone ever been? I'm guessing probably not.

My buddy just went to Colombia and said it was awesome. My wife and I are hoping to plan a trip to Costa Rica this year.Automatik;1851321 wrote:I'm itching to get something in the works and I've been tracking flights for deals. My husband spent more than two weeks in Colombia about 6 or 7 years ago. Not sure exactly where he went, but I can find out.Automatik;1851321 wrote:I'm itching to get something in the works and I've been tracking flights for deals. Heading to Paris end of June and into July. 10 days. 4 in Paris, visiting my wife's good friend, then 4 in Colmar, then back to Paris.

Will be in Europe for 10 days mid-July. Staying with friends in Spain for the first five days. Still trying to figure out what to do over the second half.

Heard Columbia is awesome. I made fun of my friend for deciding to go there and immediately felt like a turd when he posted pictures and was texting me stories. Now I wanna go.

Okay, he spent time in Bogota, Raquira, and Villa de Leyva. So not anywhere you'd go if you fly into Cartegena, lol. But he did love his time there.Automatik;1851321 wrote:I'm itching to get something in the works and I've been tracking flights for deals. I've also heard good things about Santa Marta. I'd like to do two cities, one beach and one inland, but it depends on how long I go. Right now thinking Cartegena and Medellin. My vacation days for 2017 are already looking very slim.

Has anyone ever been to Key West? Thinking of going there this summer. If we drove it would end up being pretty cheap. Can't think of many other places we want to go. Europe again would be cool, but the $1,500 flight price tag apiece always bothers me.

Where are you looking that it's $1500/person roundtrip to Europe? Seems rather high.
I went to Key West as a kid, I think I was 12. I had a great time, did a lot of snorkeling. I'd like to go back again as an adult.

Living in DC I can fly out of DCA, Dulles, or BWI. I could even fly out of philly or the three airports in/around NYC if I saw a really nice deal. I see deals to Europe and South America all the time from 320-450 dollars. Just this past November we traveled to Italy round trip for 420 and traveled to Mexico City this past February for 250.

My problem is I'm not close to a major airport for international. I'll go onto Google flights and look at clt to "Europe" and there isn't much. Granted I'm not looking 3 months out right now so probably why short term is bad. We did get about a grand to Paris last year. I didn't plan ahead for this time.

Nothing big this year, just some long weekends in Northern Michigan and Chicago. Next year we have destination weddings in Charleston (September) and Cancun (January) and a week at Disney World (April).

I saw flights to Paris from Boston for $259 last week. I'm definitely going to take advantage of that in the near future.

The family we're close with has homes in Villafranca del Penedes, Altafulla, and somewhere in the Pyrenees, so probably a mix of that. We're now thinking we might spend the whole time in Spain and save the rest for a different trip.Laley23;1851361 wrote:Where in Spain, and what are you thinking for 2nd half. I paid $480 last fall, round trip from NYC to CDG and I thought that was an awesome deal.

That is great. Mine is one way. Looks like I can get a similar deal to yours for some weeks in August.Automatik;1852000 wrote:Wow, hell of deal.

Booked a house in Outer Banks for mid September. Both of my sons and their wives and the 3 grandkids all together for the week. Will love spending the time with them-but OBX isn't high on my list f places to go.
