I have been there many times for both work and pleasure. Savannah is one of coolest towns I have visted. Best part about it is that they have open container law that let's you take your alcohol out of bars and walk around downtown with it. Cool just to watch the ships coming into the harbor. You have to stop at one of the bakery shops and get some pecan pralines at River Street Sweets.

Do you have a specific question or just looking for general advice?

Here are some of my favorites:
Favorite upscale restaurant - The Olde Pink House
Bars - The Distrillery, Crystal Beer Palor, Churchill's Pub and many other bars/pubs to just stop in get a drink.
Seafood - Pearl's Saltwater grill, River House Seafood

Tours - some good history and ghost/vampire night tours.

Good Dualing Piano bar - Savannah Smiles Dueling Pianos Saloon

Just looking for general advice. My wife and I are planning to take a trip her last week of summer and she just asked me a bit ago if I'd be willing to go there. We can get roundtrip flights for the both of us for $282 total.

Spent most of last week in Montreal for work. It was my first time there, and I gotta say it's a pretty kickass town.

Into Hilton Head/ Savannah? I'd recommend driving North to Chucktown, but Savannah is a cool town to visit. Is it just a weekend? Might get bored there if you are there for a whole week (but could also stay a night or two out on Tybee).

Was very impressed when I went for work (even with all of the French stuff). Very European without having to go to Europe.

She did mention something about a couple nights on Tybee. It would be a 4 or 5 day trip, I'm guessing.

Then yea, you should definitely split time. 5 days in actual Savannah would be too boring. There isn't THAT much to do in the city (which isn't large). Or do a day trip to Charleston (whole day at least) or Beaufort (half a day probably good).

BRF has been to Tybee.

Very good. A little hard to get to. (And parking.... watch out....BRF got a ticket. Bummer.

Be sure to read arnie_palmer post on places. Very good.

Four of my good friends are going to Ireland and then London for the Browns game, so my husband and I are considering it. We can get round trip flights for less than $200 each, so it's getting really hard to say no. We'd be there for 10 days total.

No. Flights to and from the UK from SWF are super cheap.

I'm hitting DC on Tuesday. We are doing the usual museums/monuments stuff. Any hidden gems that I need to check out?

Hidden gems as in sights to see or are you thinking of something else?

Great restaurants that haven't been on food network, sites that aren't super popular, etc.

I checked out a few of these places online, this is a good list for sure. Thanks for the recommendations.

Sounds like an odd place for a bachelor party. What do you have planned? The nightlife is rather weak, the city shuts down early.

The food is awesome though, I think I consumed every type of seafood Boston had to offer. I don't have any recommendations, you'd better off to get them from someone who's more knowledgeable. We went to Legal Harborside because we had a huge group, but after sharing that with some friends who lived there they were like "wtf, so many better options." I didn't care though, the food was solid.

The groom lives near there. It wasn't my call that's for sure. Good call on seafood.

Been a long time for me, but always loved Boston the times I was there.

Been about 15 years since I've been there, but downtown is a great place to walk around. There's also the Mercer House Museum, which had something to do with Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Been too long to remember the details, but I remember going there.

The Newseum and Spy Museum aren't free, but they are the best of the group of places you have to pay to get into (along with Ford's Theater). I would also recommend Roosevelt Island. It's where Teddy Roosevelt's memorial is and not many tourists make their way out there.

Restauraunts, I am not sure if they have been on food network, but you can't go wrong with: Thip Khao, Doi Moi, Le Diplomate, Estadio, Barcelona, Agora, Zaytinya, Compass Rose, Roses Luxury (#1 new resturaunt in the US a couple years ago, you have get in line pretty early), Bad Saint (#2, and same concept as Roses Luxury), Cava, Ambar (they have a bottomless drink and food option for $40, just keep ordering off the menu), Keren (east african), Fiola.

If you are looking for something specific let met know.

This pic was just too damned cool not to share. Open canopy, a shipwreck and a random camel walking by and a few jumpers on the ground. From our D-Day jump on Tuesday.
