The wife works in Akron, she has the option to go to work or not ....
So far she has ask me 5 times if she should make the drive in this weather conditions...

what is your criteria for making a the desisions to go into work in inclement weather?

But then I'm a man and I like driving in challenging conditions.

Unless it's a level 3, I'm going to work.

Because she has the option , computer link to her files and log-ins, printer ... I told her that if the drive time increases goes from 30 minutes to over an hour plus it not worth the effort to go to work the fact that others will be late, clients, business and the overall office operation skewed productivity will be hindered and the safety danger stay home.

If she has the option of staying home, why is it even a question?

If I could do my job from home, I would never go in.

I stay whenever possible. Today is one of those days.

Not worth taking the chance of driving in bad weather conditions if the option exists to be productive at home

This is why I love living 3 miles from my job.

If the weather is really bad, I have the option to work from home. I was fighting something (felt like strep throat but not sure) Sunday night and was hoping I'd be better for work yesterday because I knew this weather was coming and didn't want to miss two days in a row. Sickness won out yesterday so I made the drive today. My area got hit pretty hard with snow.

EDIT: As an FYI, we probably got between 7-10" of snow and the commute wasn't that bad. Got better as I headed North.

This. When our office is given the option to telework due to weather it's an easy decision for me.

This. When the weather is bad, I can have half a day of work done in the time it would take just to get there.

I can do a lot of stuff (not all, but a decent amount) from home, so if it's truly bad, I won't go in and will just give my superiors the option as to count it as me working from home (letting them know what I can/will get accomplished) or as a personal/vacation day.

Since I live roughly two minutes from work and on a US highway, this really doesn't come up very often -- maybe every few years at most -- but that's been my personal procedure on things.

I have to be present if it is not level 3 and if the 3 is dropped at all during the shift

as crazy as some of stuff is ... I believe and trust her in those 45 years
