Jeff Mason is reporting that the President won't make a nomination this week and will wait until the Senate is back in session.
This makes me think he's already got a candidate he's ready to offer up.

I wish extending respect to the deceased Justice was the reason Mr. President is waiting.

There needs to be a very thorough investigation of the death before anyone is nominated.

always is such an absolute. You are wrong. Usually is the correct term. And you will see labeling Alito and Roberts as moderate is ridiculous.gut;1781431 wrote:There are 4 liberal justices that always vote together and now just 2 conservative judges that always vote together.
I hate that it matters, but under no circumstances should a liberal judge be confirmed.

The position needs to be filled regardless of what is ultimately ruled as the cause of death.superman;1781446 wrote:There needs to be a very thorough investigation of the death before anyone is nominated.

I think the timing is quite fortuitous for a few prominent democrats and therfore needs a thorough investigation.ZWICK 4 PREZ;1781459 wrote:You think its suspicious that a 79 year old fat guy died of a heart attack?

You're right... we should find out who's at fault for Scalia's heart disease. Who set out to make him fat. Did Obama order his PCP to take him off statins? This is very compelling stuff, I agree. I heard Hillary added extra animal fat to every meal he ate! WE WILL GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS!

The Republican should push back on Obama selection as long as possible, apply more pressure on Hillary, organize unity within the GOP for the next Presidential candidate ... Win to election .... Their are three supreme judges that are 87 77,77 years old the next President will most likely be picking the next three judges..

In all seriousness, as much as it sucks to have this happen, Obama has the right to appoint the next justice. I don't think they should, but I probably wouldn't QQ if the senate dragged their feet on the nomination. I actually wouldn't mind the DC guy that boatshoes recommended. He seems pretty much down the middle.

The part that disgusts me is that people on both sides of the aisle are using a man's death as a political football.

Correct. An overweight 79 year old man died, just as hundreds of 79 year old (or younger) people did the same day. That's what happened.superman;1781499 wrote:You being an ass doesn't change things.

I hate that it matter as well but it's pretty much been a liberal court in my lifetime. John Roberts is a Bush appointed justice but he seems to be a liberal justice when it comes down to it.gut;1781431 wrote:There are 4 liberal justices that always vote together and now just 2 conservative judges that always vote together.

Obama should be allowed to put forth a candidate though. The Senate has every right to block it but it should be an Obama appointee.

TERM LIMITS Congress max 10 years, Senator max 12 years and SC Justice 20 years
Bottom line is simple... a politican can run for Congress 10 years then run for Senator for 12 years total plotical career 22 years if candiate is worth of Presidential than adds a max of 8 years so the max total of a Federal elected politican is 30 years.
Life time seat for SC Justice not sure that in the best interest for America or wise for the court or government system

How many of them stand in the way of a band of criminals getting things they want? How many of them were found with a pillow over their face and some two bit government hack declared that no autopsy was necessary without ever seeing the body?queencitybuckeye;1781523 wrote:Correct.
