Wishful thinking. It's not going to happen.

Newt's comments at the 8:35 mark, 11:45 mark, and 16:40 mark are spot on.

I'm pretty sure you could make this type of video about supporters of all candidates.

I've come to the conclusion that I think the whole "If you don't vote, you can't complain" thing is bullshit for mainly two reasons:

  1. If you believe, with genuine conviction, that none of the candidates on the ballot are even acceptable (forget 'good') candidates, then I think you have a duty to refrain from voting for something you think is bad for the country.
  2. If you're politically ignorant enough that you vote purely based on either the letter next to a name or based on some sensationalized general consensus among those around you, then frankly, I don't WANT your vote influencing the election, and I think you have a civic duty not to vote.
The more people I meet, the less I like the idea that anyone has power over anyone else. Too few people seem like they're able to be both ethical and competent enough to have the ability to govern with the ability to command force.

Absolutely true.

It is obvious though, especially with the left, that their media shills specifically look to find those that support their narrative. They probably had to interview 30 Trumpsters to cull out the 3-4 that come off as foolish. I've been interviewed by CNN (with a minor snippet of the discussion airing on AC360); and even though there were other intelligent attendees in addition to yours truly :), they managed to find 1 or 2 folks who made remarks that CNN wanted to flaunt as somehow being wholly representative of the entire gathering, or his entire support base. You are right there amidst it, watching it happen, and just shake your head, especially when the final edited versions air.

I've yet to find a staunch Trump supporter who I wouldn't deem as foolish.

Same goes for the Clinton side. Like I said.....doomed.

Take the supporters out of the equation and look at the differences on the policy side. On the top 10 issues the candidates are on opposite ends of the spectrum, and Trump just happens to be on the right side on every one of them, and Clinton is on the wrong side. Makes it easy to decide who to vote for.

I look at this in a much different manner.

I see Trump, who has a high potential to do stupid things.
And then I see Clinton, who has a known history of doing stupid things.

Although Trump has seemed to have stifled his ferocious spewing of asinine rhetoric, I can only believe that it is because of his handlers, not self-restraint.
Clinton just seems to be digging herself a deeper hole with each passing day.

*sigh* Which is why I'll voting for something/body different this year :/

I've noticed this as well and thought the same. He's like a circus bear. Circus bears have handlers.

It's one thing to have PR people and media professionals to help with the narrative, but it seems different when those people's strategy is, even in part, for you to stop talking as much.

For the record, I don't think Trump is on the right side of all the deal-breaker issues anyway. Thus, it's not so easy to figure out who to vote for.

Lol, delusional as always, I see. Regardless of which of the two you pick, you'd be lucky to get 3-4 reasonably intelligent people who legit support them (ie: NOT "lesser of two evils"). But it's good to see you were on CNN --- I was wondering exactly who Mr. "GET A BRAIN MORANS" was.

Probably had an advisor tell him he was one of the least likable people on the planet, so he better get in line to have any hopes of being remotely relevant down the road.

Bingo. Time to fall in line or be marginalized within the party.

Get in line with the winner or pay the price of being a loser.... See how those in the party who turned on Trump now will have to kiss ass but it to later for those coward career Politians. Trump will win without their support and remind them for for ever.... Trump wins their career will be hindered .....

This is essentially what I said. It's also a reason the party system is counter-productive. Convictions take a back seat to career advancement and "winning."

Then again, I'm not sure anyone in the last century mistook Republicans or Democrats as being full of conviction, anyway.

The only ones that think either side is full of conviction are the "useful idiots" who do nothing but vote party line. I mean, some people on both sides are, but the parties themselves are out for one thing and one thing only: being in control so they can say they are winners.

I read that Trumps strategy is to let Hillary talk. That's actually not a bad strategy.
