I really liked the Sig MPX 9mm Carbine .. I could see my wife at the range with this weapon.

Sales are up and Smith & Wesson has given obama its Salesman of the Year Award (again).

That sig is sweet. I like those short rifle/long pistol type weapons.....and in 9MM too!. I recently picked up a Ruger charger which is technically classified a pistol and is based on Ruger's mega popular 10/22 rifle frame. It accepts all 10/22 magazines including the 15 round banana mag that comes with it...but it will also accept the standard 10 round rotary mag and the larger 25 round and 25X2 magazines that fit all 10/22's. While it's only a .22LR, it comes with a top picatinny rail for optics and a bi-pod. I mounted an inexpensive Tasco red dot sight on it, and I get great groupings at 50 yards. Not bad for a "pistol". The standard model goes for under $300 bucks...the takedown version about $50 more.

Another interesting short rifle is the Kel Tec CMR-30 which shoots .22 mag. It partners nicely with the PMR-30...a large frame .22 mag pistol. The magazines for both hold 30 rounds. Muzzle speeds with defensive hollow point rounds have been tested to reach nearly 2000fps for the CMR.....less of course for the PMR, but still a lot of bang without much recoil.

What I find interesting is the growing interest in the .22 weapons.
In the tactical and prepper idea of weapon mentality.
I see the connection and the versatility of the .22 but I’m just not feeling the attraction. I’m old school stopping power. I have a few more “I want list” weapons before I go out and look for .22 family of weapons. … but that KT CMR-30 and a family of ground hog all gathered together could bring additional excitement to the hunt.

On a note related to this thread, I just bought my first crossbow.

I didn't want to spend a lot, but wanted good quality. So after some in depth research I stumbled across the Barnett Jackal. Should be here next Wednesday. I close on my new house next Thursday and have some woods and acreage so I'm looking forward to it!

For home protection, a full-size 9mm would be a perfectly good choice.

Rossi circuit judge .410/45LC is a great home defense weapon that women can handle.

Ideally, it would be great if your wife was knowledgable and adept at handling handguns, but if she's only a casual shooter or doesn't want to invest the time to be proficient, this revolver style shotgun is reliable, easy to load, easy to shoot, small enough to maneuver indoors, and not so powerful as to have to worry what's on the other side of the wall.

Yes, we know... from Walgreens.

I increased the size of my guns yesterday. Heavy Biceps and triceps, always end with a strip set of two arm curls.

Rossi circuit judge is alway a great option, revolver style, feared shotgun and .45 stopping power, 5 rounds of alternating hurt, smaller size than regular rifle or shotgun ...
I would have to agree with HitsRus from the information provide this weapon is a good option.
Plus it a very reliable and cool weapon to shoot ...
Prepper seem to like this weapon also... I'm not sold on that aspect.

This can be a problem for women. I have a bit of arthritis and even I have trouble racking the slide on some handguns. If you are buying one for your wife, be sure SHE picks it out and can operate it.

The biggest advantage for .22 to me is I can blow through 1000 rounds and not break the bank.

I'm thinking about getting the bottom kit for my 10/22

i agree above the 1000 round and the ammo cost.
I have my Golden Boy for "farm field sniper" but something like that CMR would be crazy fun...for ground hogs
What was your reasoning for getting 10/22? What usage is it for in your opinion?
