Browns have requested an interview with Pats DC Matt Patricia. Interesting background as he's coached on both sides of the ball...

I agree with Reed here, except the part about the Steelers winning...

I think the Browns are going to need to strike fast here with a very aggressive offer if they want a somewhat legit candidate. I believe there are 7 openings in the league and the Browns is probably the least desirable landing spot.

I question that he ever had a concussion as well. Players know you say you have a headache these days and you enter protocol. He tapped out and now he can get out!Con_Alma;1773296 wrote:I think Mr. Manziel knew his goose was cooked with this organization when he showed up at the Brown's facility with "concussion symptoms". There's some buzz that he didn't have such a thing at all but rather they he was inebriated.
If that's the case he truly has a problem that he needs to get turned around soon or his life at some point will be even more tragic.

Nobody is actually give up anything of value for him, at this point. If Jerry Jones will take on Greg Hardy, Manziel would be a piece of cake. Jones is essentially the Quagmire/Bill Clinton of the league and would screw a chicken if it wore a wig so morality/integrity isn't essentially a requirement for playing for him. Plus, Manziel wears a wig (see chicken comment).friendfromlowry;1773275 wrote:The theory of him wanting out of Cleveland becomes more and more likely by the day it seems. But shit like this will get him out of the league completely. The Cowboys keep being associated with him because Jerry Jones is an idiot when it comes to this kind of stuff. Does he have much interest from anyone else?

I wondered whether the concussion was actually legit as soon as I heard he showed up with symptoms at the training facility. With him always drinking and being a dipshit, how would they know if he were actually concussed?rrfan;1773365 wrote:I question that he ever had a concussion as well. Tom coughlin isn't saying he's retiring. If he's up for coaching again, I'd make him target #1.
This Franchise desperately needs a HC who's been there before. Not some rookie HC who no one respects.

I just googled Matt Patricia. The beard alone makes him a better candidate than Gase and Marrone.

I'd take him but I doubt he wants to come to Cleveland.SportsAndLady;1773397 wrote:Tom coughlin isn't saying he's retiring. If he's up for coaching again, I'd make him target #1.

Coughlin would be a good get but doesn't he run kind of a tough training camp? I'm skeptical how guys like he and Marrone (who does run a very tough camp) would go over with the veterans here. Don't get me wrong, they need a kick in the ass and to work.

I'm not sure I want to bring in a 70 year old coach if the goal is continuity.

Yep, I saw someone say on twitter that the browns would be a good landing spot for Chip Kelly. I wouldn't QQ over that.Mulva;1773433 wrote:Going all in on the analytics.
Little more on the guy:
Dan Hatman ‏@Dan_Hatman 11m11 minutes ago More from #Mets scout: "He isn't all analytics by any stretch that is very overstated" He places strong value on scouting, watches players"

I like that they're trying something outside the box. Analytics are a great tool to use, no reason not to.SportsAndLady;1773439 wrote:Not really sure wtf we are doing but will wait to see how it all ends up before I bash.

I want to see who the head coach hire is before I either get enthusiastic or pissed. Hopefully they don't end up with scraps and hire the special teams coach from Ohio Truck & Diesel.SportsAndLady;1773439 wrote:Not really sure wtf we are doing but will wait to see how it all ends up before I bash.

Honest question, why are you guys hesitant to be excited about this hire?

I guess it's ok but why should we be excited about a career long baseball guy joining the Browns?Commander of Awesome;1773444 wrote:Honest question, why are you guys hesitant to be excited about this hire?

His presser was awesome. I'd write him an open check. He just screams leader.SportsAndLady;1773397 wrote:Tom coughlin isn't saying he's retiring. If he's up for coaching again, I'd make him target #1.
