Manziel gives them the best chance to lose, which was why I was hoping he didn't piss down his leg during bye week.

You mean the one that's started 100% of their wins?

Johnny had 18 completions as a rookie. Namath had 18 td passes as a rookie. Namath was Rookie of the Year and All-Pro his rookie season. It's insane to say Johnny had a better rookie season than Namath.

Why do you think guys like Roethlisberger can go a rapin' and regain their starting jobs the next week? Because they are PROVEN talents. Manziel isn't. Belichick would've been like "Johnny who?" and wouldn't have given a shit.
And you can join Bunghole in the teeny tiny minority that STILL think Manziel can't play. Bellichick would have started Johnny in the opener this year and the team would probably be 5-5.

And if Johnny had balled out as a rookie (like Namath), instead of downing shots in the club, nobody would really give a crap about his alcohol/partying. It would be part of his "charm." But since he sucked, and partied more than studied the playbook, we have stuff like this. Nobody gave a crap about Namath because he got it done on the field and it was part of his persona.

Again...what was Namath's completion % his first year?. Secondly, this is Manziel's first year of actually playing. And...so you and FB are saying it's OK to drink your asses off if you can play..is that it?

This is this year..what happened last year is irrelevant to the present.

I think he has the talent to be a serviceable backup in this league but the fact that he seems Hellbent on screwing over his own career will probably prevent people from ever seeing this. I'm sure the Gladiators have a nice #2 jersey waiting for him over at the Q.

You're an idiot. Manziel has a higher winning percentage as a starter this year than McClown does. Math much?

How dumb are you? He wasted his rookie year with his dumbfuckery and is now behind the 8 Ball. Had he studied & watched, like normal rookies with a passion for the game (not fame), we wouldn't be having this conversation. He would've likely been the starter from day 1 this year but 1) he wasn't ready and 2) he didn't earn it due to his own stupidity.

Yes. If a guy can produce at his job, I don't care what he does in his free time. When his actions in his free time negatively impact his work, then it becomes an issue for his employer.

Footwedge;1765815 wrote:First of all, I sincerely doubt that Belichek would have told Manziel not to party on his week off. He didn't have a problem with Gronkowski. The difference between Pettine and Bellichick is that Johnny would have started this year from day one because Bill knows how to read talent. Pettine cut Dion Lewis...Belichick played him and he was headed to the Pro Bowl.
This has nothing to do with partying... It's about creating a distraction, lying, and insubordination. If he only gets one week demotion, he's getting off easily... He's lucky to still be on the team. If he was a third round pick he'd have been cut on the spot.
... And it's going to be pretty hard to bench McCown if he blows up the Ravens... The team is NOT going to buy it.
He's not going to be able to play in the NFL if he is not trustworthy... Not on this team, or any other.

Pettine elaborated a bit this afternoon, calling it a trust and accountability issue. There is no timetable back for Manziel... It didn't sound as if this was only a one week, slap on the wrist demotion.

HA how fucking stupid are you? Are Johnny's balls gargled in your mouth 24/7?

What happened last year is the sole reason he's on a short leash. He can't put quarterbacking above the attention he craves, yet he did it once again after telling the coaching staff he wouldn't.

"Last year is irrelevant"--spoken like a true moron.

I heard Pettine speak too and when asked if "this was Johnny's last start as a Cleveland Brown" he said "I sure hope not." Referred to it as a "stumble" or a "bump in the road" and said "all athletes run into adversity they have to overcome." Sounded like the edict to Manziel was a test that he failed miserably.

Brian Hartline got interviewed earlier and he didn't come out and say it (for obvious reasons) but it sounds like there could be more to the story than just the video.

Just stop it. Manziel drank champagne at a club. BFD. He promised Cueball he wouldn't embarrass the franchise. If drinking champagne at a club is somehow embarrassing the team, then Pettine is in the wrong business...and he himself has proven by his 2-13 record over the past 15 games that he IS in the wrong business. Get a real coach in here.....like Chucky who loves Manziel's abilities and the team would make the playoffs.

Manziel should have known better and not do what he did. That's why he should get one week and that's it. Any other coach in the league...a coach with 1/2 a frickin brain would have started Manziel over McCown from day 1. Cueball is going to get fired because he's a lousy football coach with horrible time management skills, a horrible defensive coach, can't get his players to play for him, and a complete lack of ability in evaluating his players. No Manziel didn't embarrass the franchise...Cueball has with his God awful record with a ton of talent on both sides of the ball. He's not running a frickin convent here...he's running a damn football team.

Interesting answer to my question. You must feel so special coming up with that half-wit response.

While I've got you, can I ask you a long division question or will it take you a week like it used to?

No, you stop it...it's not the coach's fault here, Johnny F@cknuts had an opportunity and he blew it, big time. He let me and you, Browns fans, his coach, and the organization down.

Listening to the Nick Wilson Experiment. He along with his side kick Kennt Kidd are the voices of reason. Last night and again tonight they were saying that Pettine had no business telling Manziel what to do or not do....on his week off.

Whereby I think Johnny used really bad judgment, there is a lot of merit to what Nick has to say.

^^^...and they'd be exactly WRONG. I'm not a Pettine fan almost as much as you are, but he is still the coach and he has every right to tell his players what they can't do ( within reason) because they are IN SEASON. If you get a few days off, it's at the discretion of the coaching staff. That time off that you're given is not a license to go crazy. Given Johnny F@cknuts history both this year and last, Pettine's request/ order is entirely reasonable and righteous.

So you logged in to tell us that you listened to a sports talk show that confirms your delusions of Johnny Manziel.

Hmmm, at a workplace, management has no business creating a code of conduct for employees. Interesting, as that flies in the face of things like drug tests and whatnot that many, many companies have current and prospective employees take. I suppose that for a chronic enabler who throws all blame in other directions, that would have a lot of merit.
