Fair point. He couldn't possibly be worse.BR1986FB;1762182 wrote:TBH, could he do much worse than GM's that have a) texted fans to "go root for Buffalo" in an expletive filled tirade, b) been found drunk/passed out under their office desk and c) sent texts to the sideline to suggest players & play calls?
I think bringing in Kosar would be kind of a "fanboy" type response from Haslam but Bernie does know QB play which is one thing this team sorely needs.

This may sound a tad "over the top" but I'm of a firm belief that a "lay" fan who spends their whole Saturday watching CFB, given a draft board, could probably have just as good success in the first three rounds of the draft as guys like Farmer & Dwight Clark have.HighRoller74;1762189 wrote:Fair point. Even hitting on rounds 1-3 by just picking "name" guys over a 2-3 year period would do wonders for a team like this. I just think the talent evaluation in Berea has been THAT bad since 1999. I can't think Kosar would be much worse with his connections in the league.
Seems like the guys doing the selecting want to get too "cute" or think outside of the box to show that they are a genius (see Mangini with the 2nd round Robiskie/Veikune picks). I mean who in their right mind takes Veikune there? I'd never heard of the guy until they drafted him.

I actually feel the same way to an extent. I know we all like to rail on the Gilbert pick in the top 10. But that's in hingsight, most everyone that put out a mock draft, or did a ranking had Gilbert as the top corner, and as a sure fire top 10-15 pick. Where GM's really make their money is finding the late round steals, or UDFA.BR1986FB;1762195 wrote:This may sound a tad "over the top" but I'm of a firm belief that a "lay" fan who spends their whole Saturday watching CFB, given a draft board, could probably have just as good success in the first three rounds of the draft as guys like Farmer & Dwight Clark have.

Agreed but I think someone who watches CFB religiously could say 'I like that guy and that guy" just looking over guys that were left on a draft board and hit just as much as Farmer in earlier rounds. They'd probably have drafted more impact players at the top of the draft than these guys in Berea.HighRoller74;1762205 wrote:I actually feel the same way to an extent. A lot of the posters on here are pretty savvy about the college game. They may not be great at finding the depth/UDFA's but they could probably hit on higher picks. Like I said about Bernie, couldn't do much worse.

Though I can see stubborn running to get to a 3rd and 8
More times than not the play will be 40 yards downfield on 3rd and 8. Sometimes Ben makes it work. Haven't seen Vick or Landry complete it though.

Yeah, but we have him cover Sanu on 3rd down instead of rushing the passer. Our DC is a freakin' genius.BR1986FB;1762232 wrote:The Browns have a pass rusher?
