Evans had 5 catches and a some dude named Ryan Swope caught 11 balls for 111 yards.

I think I speak for most Browns fans, when I say it is about time to find out what we have got so we can move on.

That will not be decided by this game alone, but by letting him play a series of games and watching for progression. Further, I suggest that the Browns, at this juncture, play the rest of their high draft picks. While I am fully aware that good/great college players do not necessarily translate into pros, these guys, were not just highly rated in the draft by the Browns, but by other organizations as well.....there was something in those players that made them high draft choices. Let's find out if they can play.

Agree with this.

Earlier I said I want to see him either ball out or fail miserably, nothing in between, so they could either move forward with him as the starter or focus on a QB with their top 3 pick.

I've backtracked on that a bit after thinking more. I'm not giving him a built in excuse for tonight but, if he in fact "balls out", they might have something special. The odds are stacked against him with only two legit receiving targets (Barnidge/Benjamin) on a short week.

God forbid JFF & Austin Davis were to BOTH get injured tonight. The emergency QB was Hartline (out with a concussion) followed by Hawkins (see Hartline). No clue who the QB would be after those two.

45.5% completions (helped by some drops, he should have been at least 52%!) and a 71.3 rating. MVP! MVP! MVP!

No turnovers does possibly make it a career-best, but probably nothing to brag about.

I thought Manziel did some things impressively. People questioning his mobility, arm and decision-making are wrong. I'm just not sure how successful that style would be even if he had premier weapons all over the field Like, I just get the sense that you would need to cater the whole offense to how he plays, he's never going to be able to adapt to a system that is already working and he's put into.

He could be okay, but that's a big ass gamble the Browns would need to take and it's way more complicated than just surrounding him with more talent.

Yeah, I was somewhat impressed by the first half. He struggled a bit passing-wise (and, like you said, it's not like he has much talent to throw to), but showed a lot of poise and good timing on his running. Good intuition of when and where to go, I'd say. In the second half, nothing went right, but that was a team-wide thing and not anything that can get pinned on any one player.

For a short week with a lousy team around him, he did reasonably good. Nothing to say "he is the one" or have that sort of faith going forward, but he didn't play bad or in a way that the overall performance can be his complete responsibility. Kind of a middle ground between Sleeper's (garbage) and Footwedge's (FAP-FAP-FAP) opinions about him. He might not be good enough to be a full-time starter and he might be. They should use the rest of the year to find out, although it seems the coaches are resistant to do that for some reason.

Most importantly, he's not Josh McCown

The coaches are "resistant to do that..." because they enjoy feeding their families with the money they receive from being employed.

LOL. You, Munch, and Hooley all from the same breed. Manziel threw 2 touchdown passes in the first half capping off 70 plus yard drives, except one of the touchdowns was dropped.

In the second half, the first series was stopped because Joe Thomas missed his block and Crowell was sacked for a 4 yard loss...then a false start..and after a nice scramble, all 6 refs missed a blatant helmet to helmet call on Manziel. The second series we saw Manziel throw another strike 25 yards down the field only to see Gabriel try to catch it with his knees. The following throw was good enough to pick up the first down and Barnidge thought trying to catch it with one hand was the cool thing to do.

Later in the game Gabriel ensured the hat trick by dropping his third pass of the evening. Even Cueball, a well known Johnny hater said that Manziel had really high marks through 3 quarters. With any kind of help from the receivers, Johnny would have had a 125 qb rating through 3 quarters.

But go ahead...lead the Johnny basher brigade. Better get used to it because Manziel will be the starter here for the next 10 years.
