I just miss the college football / OSU talk. We had a lot more discussion a few years ago. Fuck Bucknuts and the 11W format is fucking awful.

I still enjoy it here. Some funny people, some idiots, it's fine if you don't take it too seriously.

The cooler thread is a perfect example. Instead of helping a guy pick out a cooler we ended up in a fight over the audacity of owning something you want vs something you need.

I still read everything. I used to post everyday in class when I got bored about 5 minutes into each lecture. Now I'm at work from 7-5, and it's hard to find time to post regularly. I still like to read about Ohio sports on here and enjoy most of the banter.

Yeah, compared to the comments sections on ESPN, Yahoo or virtually anywhere other than maybe Deadspin, we're all a bunch of MENSA academic elites. Those places are pretty much nonstop barrages of the lowest common denominator yelling at each other.like_that;1749886 wrote:Also, I never really used the OC or JJ Huddle for my news. I used it to discuss the news. I would still take the discussion here over any comments section on any media source. If we think our threads are a shit show, just read the comments to ESPN articles.

Same. When JJ was at its height and then the OC was started were when I was in college. I could post at all hours. Drunk posting was the best. Rarely get to drunk post anymore.GOONx19;1749898 wrote:I still read everything. I used to post everyday in class when I got bored about 5 minutes into each lecture. like_that;1749885 wrote:Heretic is spot on. This forum was divided between the easily butt hurt (i.e. cry4fail) and people who like to fuck with other people/dont let the feelz get in the way like me. I think the vote to take down cry4fail did it in. Justin most likely thought it would be a landslide win for cry4fail, but unfortunately it wasnt. I recall over 60 posters voting in that poll and the "feelz dont get hurt easily" people took it by 3-4 votes. After that vote the hurt feelz crew slowly disappeared, because they no longer had cry4fail over stepping his boundaries and targeting people. The exact opposite would have happened if cry4fail remained a mod (cry4fail already drove off good posters). In fact we had a group of 18+ posters who were ready to boycott.
Take that event and add in the other reasons already stated here (forums are dying, we are getting older, etc) and this is what we have. I still enjoy it though, because i never took it too seriously. The ones who left took the OC as seriously as their lives. I will be here until the site officially goes down.
Your take on that is amusing to say the least. So the anti-me side won, and then people left (your own words). But it is somehow my fault? Maybe, just maybe I was right and generally people don't like dealing with harassment from assholes all the time. But nope, that can't possibly be it so go ahead and blame me. That's the easy solution, right?

It seems you're having trouble comprehending like_that's post so I will simplify it for you:Fly4Fun;1749920 wrote:So the anti-me side won, and then people left (your own words). But it is somehow my fault?
Fact #1) A vote regarding you was taken
Fact #2) Had the vote been in favor of you, people who disagreed were ready to leave the site
Fact #3) The vote was not in favor of you, and people who disagreed left the site
Your actions were so divisive that one way or another people were going to leave the site.
And yet you fail to see how this is your fault? That's what's amusing.

Like S&L...THIS.superman;1749892 wrote:I still enjoy it here. Some funny people, some idiots, it's fine if you don't take it too seriously.
...and I'll add to that, sometimes you get some good, thought provoking, informative discussions....and sometimes you need a place to vent.
All the side issues aside, the reasons people leave or post less are:
1) they don't have time.
2) they are not getting anything out of being here, and they find their time better spent elsewhere.
It is one thing to disagree with someone, and even ridicule their ideas, but often it goes beyond that and gets personal, to the point where when that person gets on the site, he is descended upon by a pack of wolves. Nobody wants to waste their time being subjected to that, unless they are "unlikable" or trolling on purpose. (and we have a fair share of that here.)
A lot of good "content" posters have dwindled away because they don't want to spend the time wading thru that bullshit and the threads that go on for pages with name calling.
Unfortunately, as you lose people, you lose the variety and volume of content that makes people want to be on here, so it self perpetuates...there is less and less reason to "be here".
It would be informative to look at past lists of people who used to post alot and no longer do, and send them an e-mail asking them why they left the site.

Belly theory create threads, creates interest which ends up diverting to a different interest within the thread, that creates additional followers and higher viewing. That is why Belly Matters.
the OC should create a rule that everyone who "post" on different Threads ( more than 5 times in a month) Has to create a "Threat" or they ( the trolls) will be limited to only 10 post per month ( trolls) until they create a original Thread.
Bottomline is simple.... More created Threads more interests, more viewers, more post, new readership ..... Trolls have to participate (create a Thread) which puts them in a position they don't like...

It is what it is...a place to come & enjoy the comedic stylings of Yours Truly. I'm still waiting for my first residual. As for whether it's better or worse than it was a couple years ago, I'll try to pick up my game a little so you can all really bask in my opinions & intellect. In the meantime, somebody punch like_that in the balls for me.

I see you are still a cry baby bitch. You lost the vote dude, the majority of the posters said you suck. Get over it. Also, you must have missed the part where I said the non QQ'ers would have left if you would have remained a mod... derp. All I know is the best years of this forum were the first 18 months when you could pretty much say anything. Then all of a sudden we had a butt hurt cry baby like you banning people for the pettiest shit. Not to mention you were targeting certain posters who hurt your feelz (this was proven through PMs from a mod). Then we started to lose people.Fly4Fun;1749920 wrote:Your take on that is amusing to say the least. So the anti-me side won, and then people left (your own words). But it is somehow my fault? The fact of the matter is you guys thought you would easily win the vote, and you didn't. You should have stepped down as a mod well before that vote. Nobody respected you as a mod and the majority thought you were a bitch. Instead, being a mod was the only opportunity in your life to have any sort of power, so you refused to step down. Keep crying about it though.
If justin took a vote for many of the decisions on this site (i.e. voting for mods), I think this site still would be like it was when it first started.

People like me are part of the problem. I've been a member since day one, but rarely post. I'm here everyday reading, but just don't contribute. There are probably others like me.
