Just finished. The only two sets he does not give a verbal cue on are Mary Kath and Squat Jacks. Not sure how you were doing twice the work.BR1986FB wrote:I've done plyo with a weighted vest. It never fails. For some reason, every time I start a 3rd week of P90X, my reps go DOWN in all of my pushup movements. Week 2 I always get more reps than week 1 but then decrease in week 3? Very strange. I did drop the bands and went back to pullups with the chair. So far, pain free in the left bicep.

I noticed this too, after two weeks of Insanity my pants are already getting looser. I will post a progress update Monday when after my second Fit Test. Hopefully I have seen some progress in my reps since the first day two weeks ago.BR1986FB wrote: Two weeks of round 3 (part 3) down and my pants are falling off.

Favorite time of the week...knowing that chest & back and plyo, the two most difficult P90X workouts in my book, are done for the week. It's all down hill from here!

Alright, first fit test after two weeks of Insanity and I was pleasantly surprised. The fit test is 8 exercises for as many as you can in a minute. If you haven't tried it then the exercises don't really mean anything to you. My goal of posting this is just a little taste of the progress that Insanity has allowed me to make in 2 weeks. For a point of reference, before I started Insanity I worked out 3x a week lifting but did minimal cardio. I still lift 3x a week but added this program to the mix. I admit anything with Jump in the name I suck at, takes a toll on my knees since I am kind of a bigger guy (6'4" 230)
The first number is my first fit test, the second is what I did today...
Switch Kicks 82 118
Power Jacks 35 43
Power Knees 60 83
Power Jumps 21 29
Globe Jumps 9 9
Suicide Jumps 12 16
Push-Up Jacks 19 26
Low Plank Oblique 31 55

I'm seriously thinking about getting this. Is it gonna make me fast as shit, strong as a MFer??? Is it gonna make me into something I can't do on my own????
I'm in pretty good shape already. I run and lift 5-6 days a week but I'm becoming stagnant and not gaining (strength, power, and speed). Is it going to really accelerate my strength/athletic prowess quickly or is it just for the out-of-shape people to lose weight?

It's a good workout either way. You obviously won't see the gains that some fat ass would but it is a good program.
Edit: Status report on my Bas Rutten MMA System workout = Bloody knuckles. Seriously, couldn't find my hand wraps so I just hit the bag with gloves on only. Bad idea.

If you're talking about Insanity then it really is up to you. If you go max effort on each exercise then yeah I think you will see some gains. The program is what you make of it. If you slack or don't go till you physically can't do another rep then I think you might be disappointed in your results. With your current regime I don't think the discipline will be a problem though. Like you saw about my background I went from essentially no set cardio regime and I have seen results. Could these results have occurred by starting to run daily? Probably. But doing the interval training is a whole hell of a lot more fun to me then running distance.Strapping Young Lad wrote: I'm seriously thinking about getting this. I don't know about strong as a MFer because it is really based on cardio. There are some push-ups that concentrate on shoulder definition but the majority of it are cardio exercises.

I think he was talking about P90X.
For anyone bored with P90/Insanity. Check out: Bas Rutten's MMA System Workout. I've gone on about it for a few posts but it actually is a pretty sweet workout. What's nice is it's just audio apart from the video telling you how to use it so you don't need a tv. Just something to play the CDs/Cassettes/MP3s.
It's available at Amazon (linked but get it through the Ohiochatter affiliate thing if you're gonna buy it) and through the usual internet channels (Demonoid I'm looking at you).

It will help you in certain facets of athletics. If you're an avid basketball player, it should help your vertical (from all of the plyometrics). This workout (P90X) will NOT make you strong but will build up endurance. You can get stronger but the pace at which you will work out will not really allow you to use ridiculously heavy weights. You will get VERY ripped & lean on this program if you follow it as prescribed.Strapping Young Lad wrote: I'm seriously thinking about getting this. You will get stronger just the gains won't be anything like you'd get from a lifting regimen. You'll just get more toned and have more endurance. Both good things. All the programs mentioned in this thread are good because they are very hard. If it's easy you probably shouldn't do it.

So, what's up with the Insanity WO's. Are they better than P90x for someone who's already in good shape but wants to get into shape to be a bettet athlete???
I would like to lose about 3-5% more bodyfat while becoming faster, more ripped up, and stronger. Sounds like Insanity uses some power moves etc. Is that more the way to go???

Insanity is more cardio than P90x. P90x will get you stronger than Insanity will.

Starting to hit a pretty good groove with this program again. At the start of week 5 I'm going to experiment with a new supplement that I've heard rave reviews about.

Did Tony's new one on one 100/30/20 last night. It's pretty nice. 100 jump rope into 30 crunches into 20 pushups, for a half hour. Not a bad quick workout!

Taking the week off due to a strained bicep, cardio only this week.

It's not torn, but hurts like hell, no lifting at all for me. I think it was strained lifting furniture.
