I'm not big on doing much cardio so that's why i'm looking forward to it since i really like interval training, but my rough plan is to do the two months of insanity then two months of lifting and then a second round of insanity. I probably won't follow the diet to a T, but i'm hoping to get some decent results.
Just do Insanity and quit QQing about lifting. Once you finish insanity, I suggest doing another round, but doing a hybrid with p90x. BR posted a hybrid p90x/insanity schedule on here before.

I'm starting to think that I may have to do Insanity over P90x, just because of the weights. I have access to weights, but with having young kids, it's tough to get to the weight room with my family schedule. Are dumbbells sufficient?

For insanity, you don't need anything other than yourself, and room to jump.

you don't have 90mins in the morning or at night? Dumbbells are sufficient for everything but pull ups

Don't want to do it in the morning, and it would be too difficult to do it at night. I'd have to wait until 9:00 to be able to go to the school facilities to use the weight room. Don't care to do it that late. My plan is to hopefully workout as soon as my wife gets home (5:15), so that will give her time with the chilluns.

Shit, does each workout take 90 mins?

Insanity workouts are 40-45 minutes each. P90x are about 55-60 minutes each except for yoga (which i don't do) is 90 minutes, but if you do Ab ripper it is another 15 minutes after the weight routine.

No allowing for warming up, breaks, the workout itself, cooling down, etc etc. The actual workout is about 60mins.

My turn to ask a question, I read on one of BR&#8217;s links that spinning is bad for you. Is that due to lack of resistance? I&#8217;ve never done spinning before, I do bike a lot, but at the highest resistance. I wonder how that theory applies to swimming since it is low impact high resistance activity using multiple body muscles. </SPAN>

Honestly, i'd go on craigslist to get a set of adjustable dumbbells and buy one of those door frame pull up bars.

You don't need a ton of space for p90x.

Definitely think I will get the pull up bar, or just hang a pull up bar in the garage from the rafters. Good thing about having it in the garage, is that I can hang myself when the OC gets to me. :(

About to start p90x, bought it after my son was born and didn't have the time.... Just need to find the dvd set.

Right now. I'm just doing 30 minutes cardio on exercise bike, treadmill or elliptical and dumb bell workouts and pushup daily.

I'll update on the progress of p90x once I find the dvds and start(moved recently and unpacking boxes still).

This is the primary reason why I don't do P90X--there's no way to find 90 mins consistently. I try to stick to 30-40 mins. Anything longer than that, and it's just not realistic to get it in.

First P90X workout in over 8 months (chest & back) was actually pretty easy. Thought I'd be more winded but I wasn't. Tomorrow will be the true test, plyo.

A little surprise this morning. Went to do P90X Plyometrics and my dvd wouldn't work/was skipping. Dove headfirst back into Insanity. Not too bad but room for improvement after close to a year layoff from these workouts.

Did the Plyo Cardio Circuit.

Why are you doing P90X plyo anyway?

I haven't done these workouts in 8+ months. To think I'm going to be able to "jump right back on the horse" without any consequences would be foolish. My cardio capacity is obviously down from heavy powerlifting workouts and cardio that consists of inclined walks on the treadmill. I was frankly surprised how well my body bounced back. Guess there's something to be said for "muscle memory."

Heavy deads, chins, leg extensions, and curls on the agenda for me tomorrow. Deadlifting has definitely become a favorite of mine.

Did the Shoulders & Arms workout tonight. Finished up with one heavy set of overhead barbell presses, close grip bench press with the fat bar and barbell curls until failure.

I am halfway through week 5 of my Leangains workouts. Seeing some very good progress. My deadlifts have increased 50 lbs, back squat increased 45 lbs, 8 more chinups, and 6 more pull ups. I think I have finally found something that I will stick with workout wise.
