I've been looking on vitacost.com and I think that I'm going to go with the Optimum Nutrition 100% Gold Standard Whey. Its like 41 bucks for a 5 pound bucket of the stuff and it has 77 servings in it. There isnt a big difference between whey concentrate and whey isolate is there?

Also considerring Dymatize Whey protein isolate. Its actually cheaper then the other one but it only has 70 servings in it as opposed to the 77 in the other whey. Any suggestions would be helpful. After I purchase the protein all I have left are the groceries and waiting for the dvd's to arrive.

Yeah. Isolate is a higher quality protein. If you can afford the WPI (whey protein isolate), go for it...

I myself use Dynamize and love it. I buy the chocolate and vanilla and then mix them.

+1. Get the isolate. Not only does your body absorb it better, but it mixes better in your shake. I just have a shake cup and usually mix with water and if it's not isolate, it's usually faily gritty.

I just orderd the 5lb bucket of the Isolate in the vanilla flavor. I tried to order the chocolate as well but all they had in that size was a chocolate mint flavor. Do you guys put anything into your shakes? I have seen alot of recipes that call for a scoop of powder, a tbsp of peanut butter and a couple banana's and some skim milk. Just wondering if you guys have any of your own recipes that I could try.

Whatever tastes good to you. I always get chocolate and just slam it down. I got a small bag of vanilla once and I really didnt like it. That was the only time I used the blender and I put in some ice, a banana, and strawberries...that at least made it tolerable.

My suggestion:

Eat: Fish, lean meat, whole grains, veggies and fruit.
Avoid: White bleached flour, starches (potatoes), sugars (non fruit sugars).

Do not eat breaded fish or chicken.

Nope I'm not on a ship yet. Their food is healthier than regular cafeteria food cause they use like whole wheat and stuff like that. But they have Pizza, spaghetti, salads, sandwhiches, chinese daily. I don't eat too often there I actual go out and buy food and eat in my room.

My suggestion would be to to try and eliminate "white" carbs and eat the whole grain stuff, lots of veggies/fruit, and lots of protein.

How close did you guys follow the nutrition guide that came with it? Diet has always been my biggest problem when it comes to working out, I bust my butt at the gym but then I end up eating something that I shouldnt. I wouldnt consider myself overweight (6'1 210) but I have never seen the results that I want. I've started lifting heavy weight and getting bulky and thats not what I want, I hope that this program will help me lean out.

I don't do P90X but i do workout quite a bit. I have found that no matter how much time/effort I put in the gym, the results don't come until I concentrate on my diet. When I cut out my carbs, my weight drops. When I don't, my weight goes up. Of course, I'm very carb-sensitive and that may not be the case with everyone. I've heard very good things about P90X and would try it if that's what my goal was...

I followed the diet plan to the T in my first round and dropped almost 30 lbs. 2nd round I didn't and I've lost, but not nearly as good. It's tough to do that for 90 days. And it seems that the more cheats you allow yourself, the harder it is to eat clean in between.

On the other hand, a girl I work with did the program and didn't follow the diet at all and had great results. She didn't have any weight to lose but her toning was phenominal.

I would suggest to at least follow the diet for the first 30 days (phase 1) because phase 2 loosens up A LOT by letting you increase your carbs. A lot of people I've talked to did Phase 2 or Phase 1 diet again for Phase 3 because it's ultra carb heavy.

Most importantly, listen to your body.

That's cool VDubb I'm gonna try to start it this weekend, I just hope I can stay on the eating plan. That'll be my only problem. I love to eat so this will be the hard part. But I'm willing to do it just to drop about 10 to 15 lbs into muscle. I almost wish I could go through boot camp again.

The grocery bill did go up a little. it was worth it to me though. Once you get used to the phases in the nutrition guide it becomes a lot easier. I didn't use the meal plan I used the portion approach.

I have maintained my weight for 4 months and once my sprained ankle is better I'll start round 2. I would check out the beachbody.com forums. There are a lot of recipes and good advice and every single person on there is going thru the same as you. If you have a cheat day, they don't make you feel guilty cause they have had those days themselves. Once you start and really use the nutrition guide to your advantage, you will start seeing results. I was always full by 5 PM, but I would still need to get a portion in before the day was done. I was like crap, I still need to eat something, but I was full.
The guys at work call me P90. They kinda made fun of me, but after they saw my results, they asked a lot of questions. I didn't use weights I used the dvd's "as is" and worked my ass off everyday! Got hooked on, plus Tony's easy on the eyes and is funny!
Good Luck!

Diet has always been my problem as well. I consider myself to be in pretty good shape. I lift weights, run and play basketball quite a bit but my diet has always bitten me in the butt. This time its going to be different, I'm really going to dedicate myself to this program. I think that I have a pretty good foundation of muscle but I havent been able to bring out the results that I want. Beachbody looks like a great site to get recipe ideas as well as ask questions. I'll probably be checking that out quite a bit as I work my way through.

Did you pay to create a profile? I'm not sure that I want to pay to post, I just assume read the questions that others have and find my answers through them.

My program arrived tonight. Did you guys read through the entire nutrition guide before you started? I didnt purchase the recovery drink, is this something that I really need or will I be ok without it?

Yeah 2 or 3 times :P

I have the recovery drink because the guy I bought it from is just so freakin sweet.....and it tastes pretty good. But really, a lot of people actually drink chocolate milk. The carb/protein ratio should be something around 4:1.
