I sort of disagree with this. If a car is speeding and breaking the law, they shouldn't be given the right of way, assuming you are going the posted speed limit. The speed limit determines the flow of traffic, not an individual's interpretation of how fast traffic should be going. When someone is merging etc, they are expecting the flow of traffic to be the speed limit, therefore making it safer to merge with traffic.

Either way, after living in LA for a few years now, imagine 5 lanes of dumbasses driving random speeds. its no wonder why traffic is so bad here.

Traffic is bad in California because it is incredibly populated, but unlike the East Coast cities, you dont have public transportation because its all spread out.

The premise of the law is that people impeding the flow of traffic, regardless of speed, cause more accidents than the speeders. Say everyone was going the speed limit, but the impeding drivers were all going 10-15 MPH under the speed limit? The result would be the same.

It didn't say a speeder couldn't also be ticketed in such scenario, but the person who refuses to get out of the way is also guilty of a violation.

I think you can also argue that speed has very little influence on safety. Look at the varying speed limits in other countries. The biggest problem in the USA is that there are a shit load of vehicles.

Columbus is very tame in-terms of traffic. Boston, Atlanta and Washington D.C. are far, far worse relative to geographical size.

Well, yes. Most cities make it impossible to commute anywhere without a vehicle. Walking, biking and for the most part, public transportation simply isn't an option.

Almost every other instance I've been outside of the US, driving/having access to a vehicle to do everything is much more of a luxury and much less of a need.

But is that perhaps because when we travel outside the US, most tourist destinations tend to be major metros? And many major metros in Europe and Asia are much older than the US, thus more densely populated and suited/needed public transportation. America had the space, and cars, to spread out to suburbs.

Well, yes. It has also become engrained in society that having a vehicle and using a vehicle to get everywhere is a necessity rather than a luxury.

In American society, yes...that's the lifestyle.

So who will the cop choose to ticket? The guy going 82 in a 70 or the guy in front of him doing 73? Only one cop, can't ticket both.

If the guy in front of him is doing 73, he's not going to be going 82 for very long.

Between DC and Baltimore is the worst I have ever seen. Atlanta is just ridiculous, you hit it about 30 miles south of the city on 75 and it's a slow roll in.

I actually think right now Toledo may very well have some the worst traffic in the state during rush hour. Large sections of 475 are torn up leaving only 2 small lanes as well as the entirety of 75 thru the region. There have been times it has taken me over an hour to get from BG to the Franklin Park mall
