So, in just two weeks of league play, we have seven of the eight teams already with a conference loss. Dalton is 0-2 in conference play. Norwayne is 2-0 in conference play. Everyone else is 1-1.

Obviously, this will tease itself out as league play continues, but this seems awfully early in league play to have all but one team already getting a league loss.

Is the league really that good, or is it just balanced? I'm leaning to balanced. I don't see any team making a deep playoff run with the exception of possibly Norwayne. I say this only because of Miller and their line play. Waynedale has good skill, but never seems to put it all together. Chippewa was over valued; line play is severely lacking. Smithville and Hillsdale are one and done if they qualify. The WCAL is a good league this year, but far from great.

I'd say that it's great for a league. I think the level of play across the board is high when compared to other leagues of a similar size. However, I agree with you that there aren't really any teams that will be making a deep run.

For it being small school football it's pretty good. Balanced is the right word, several teams with lots of talent. A deep playoff run isn't out of the question for the league contenders....I guess we would need to clarify deep. I didn't see hillsdale getting curb stomped by waynedale, thought it would be closer. Tough game against northwestern this week. Chip/waynedale will be an exciting game. For the record it's good to see Paul is still alive! Bobcats stalk!!!!

Alum, if your talking from a Chipp perspective; it all starts and ends up front! The line was awful on both sides of the ball vs. Norwayne. The running lanes were nonexistent, and Britenstein had no time to set up and throw. He made some great throws on the run, but that's no way to live. The big boys need to man up, and not dance this week!

D5 Waynedale...The Bears are going to the show barring an epic collapse. The math man has them needing only 6 wins to get in (96% w/6). Now at 4-1, they already have played Norwayne. Chippewa this week will be highly entertaining and then it's on to the second tier of the WCAL.

D5 Norwayne...Now sitting at 4-1, Pasteur's math says 7 wins (99%) to play in week 11. Six wins still gives them a 79% chance...with Dalton, Rittman & Northwestern as highly probable wins. The Bobcats will easily make the playoffs.

D6 Hillsdale...Pasteur has them at a 97% playoff chance with 7 wins. They are 4-1 now. They still haven't played Dalton, Rittman & Northwestern, 3 games they should prevail in. Chippewa & Norwayne will be a rougher road. An upset of either of those two basically guarantees a berth. I think Hillsdale makes the playoffs as long as they take care of business.

D5 Chippewa...Right now the magic numbers for Doylestown are 7 (83%) or 8 (99%). they are 4-1 now. They need to finish out at 4-1 or 3-2 at the worst. Waynedale, Smithville, Hillsdale, Northwestern and Dalton are the remaining opponents. I think they will cover the necessary wins to make the playoffs.

D6 Smithville...Here's the team that's probably gonna need to pull off the big upset. Fantastic 50 gives them an 82% chance with 7 wins and 100% with 8. The Smithies are 4-1 now and still need to play this years big 3....6 wins is the bubble. They need to avoid being upset by Rittman and Dalton and hang a loss on Nor, WD or Chipp.

Bears - Chips should be a good one tonight. It will come down to who hangs onto the ball and line play. Waynedale can't keep putting the ball on the ground in the red zone. Does anyone know if the Bennett kid has been cleared yet? He is a big weapon to stretch the field. Whether he plays or not will be a factor.

He's cleared to play. Has practiced last couple days. More importantly than stretching field; he typically does a nice job covering Strasbaugh.

Heard some friends who have kids playing at waynedale that they have a few tricks up their sleeves in regards to special teams.... :RpS_drool:

Wcal, it always starts up front, that's pretty much at every level, high school, collage and pros. If you dominant on the line theres a good chance your winning that game. If you can hold your own (which I think will happen tonight) and limit turning the ball over your in the game. Britenstein will be the difference in a close game. Chipps by a touchdown! Book it!

Someday... I would like a high school coach to sit down, and explain to me, why a 15 yd. squib kick, to give your opponent the ball starting at their own 45, is good strategy.

I went to the Chippewa/Wayndsale game tonite and can honestly say Waynedale got out coached. Chippewa had a good squad for sure but the Golden Bears should have been in this game. Calling some of the worst plays I've seen In a while. This ones on you coach! Hopefully you can get these boys re-focused and ready to compete. You should be winning every game. Coach you have the talent please get your playmakers the ball and execute. This one is on you!

I was at that game as well, and I tend to disagree. Chippewa lined up and played physical football and took it to them all night. They swarmed on defense, no matter who was getting the ball. Waynedale had two big plays, the 4th down prayer and the big play where the RB broke it up the middle. Other then that, nothing. Chippewas offensive line dominated the game where they lined up and just pounded it down their throats.

That being said, other then the MAC, the WCAL plays some good small-school football where its a dogfight every week!

The Chipps dominated both lines of scrimmage. Chipps QB is a true dual threat. The Chipps were just better. Very obvious to see. Waynedale struggled to run. Had few open receivers. And couldn't tackle.

No Waynedale lost because of turnovers when they should have been running the football.

Waynedale lost because they were dominated up front on both sides of the ball. The interceptions were created by the pressure applied by the Chippewa front. Outside of the long run by Stanley when the game was over, Waynedale was unable to move the ball on the ground. In addition, Strasbaugh has been a dominate receiver, but Chippewa has shut him down for three years because of Britenstein. He was virtually shut down, and even his td catch was clearly a bobble out of bounds. While I have never been impressed by the Bears QB, and have always felt they would be better with Strasbaugh running the show, that is not the reason they lost tonight. Chippewa came to play, and controlled all facets of the game.

Didn't get to go to the game as I've been a little under the weather this week...did listen on the radio. Every team has that one flat game every year, and it sounded like the Bears had theirs last night. Norwayne proved Waynedale can be worn down with the run, and the Chipps must have studied that tape well. Sounded like the Chipps played some inspired ball coming off the loss last week. Hats off to them. Well done! Now, with a league title out of reach, these kids need to stay focused on football, and not start thinking about winter sports yet. A playoff appearance would still be a sweet reward for these seniors on this team.

A couple surprises last night! I did not think the score would be so lopsided in the Bears/Chipps game and I would not have picked HUskies to beat The Falcons!! The league has gotten very interesting. Congrats to the Bobcats and Smithies for wins last night also!

The Chipps were superior on both O and D lines. Yes the Bears could have avoided the interceptions and run the ball more. They would have still lost because the line could not open holes. They even tried to run Strasbaugh more and he struggled to pick up a couple yards. Reibe was under pressure all night long and had no time to throw the ball.
Give credit to the Chipps who were just a better team. It is ok to say the opponent has more talent. Especially when they clearly have more talent.
