I think it is a good bet that the Steelers know of the suspension that will be handed out and this could be a sign that it's longer than perhaps many expected.

I really like the Leftwich trade. Great planning for Ben's absence they were pro active with this one

He can start and win games.

Yeah it sounds like a hefty suspension.

The Steelers had a lot of time to make what seemed like a logical move, trading a seventh round pick for Leftwich, but they didn't do it until the evening before the suspension is to be announced? I think they know what's coming.

There's still a part of me that says Ben wont be a part of this team this season. The trade for Leftwich reaffirms that.

Although looking at the schedule, the Steelers have five primetime games but they're all scheduled after Oct. 31.

That's an odd arrangement. Usually they're more spread out.

The Steelers go six games at 1 p.m. and then five primetime games in their last 10.

Is it possible the NFL figured all of this into it? This would suggest 4-6 games.

^^^^Agree, no way he's traded. IMO, Leftwich was brought in because maybe they don't have full confidence in Dixon, plus, Leftwich did a hell of a job when he was called upon in Pittsburgh.

Teams want 4 QB in camp. Thats a given as you need arms.

They may not be totally convinced Dixon can go out and effectively start 4 games and do well and win. They also may not be convinced Batch is the guy to be 3rd QB with his injuries recently.

Getting Leftwich for a 7th rounder is nothing. A no brainer. It was either this or draft one late or bring in a UFA as the 4th arm in camp. By getting BL they got a vet who knows the offense to a point and knows how to prepare.
IVe said it a thousand times....when you have a franchise QB, like BR, i prefer to have a vet backup(s) who know how to prepare without much PT and know whats it takes to play in the NFL.

With BR as our QB i expect to contend most seasns.......and if he goes down I want a vet who knows how to prepare and has experience.

ESPN just reported the Steelers are actively pursuing a trade for Ben. They are asking for a top ten pick.

The Steelers contact every team before the draft and see if they're interested in trading and so forth.

So if they contacted the teams in the Top 10 and some were interested in making a move for Roethlisberger, that may be considered actively shopping him.

Steeler fans!!!!

I was going to start a thread on this, but I decided to just pose this question here.
In your opinion, will Big Ben be on the roster at the start of the regular season? If not, who do you think(or want) will be the starter?

Yes. He will e on the roster..

this talk of accepting trade offers is to scare him and every other member of the franchise. they have no intention on trading him.

Kinda like when a parent threatens to cancel the family vacation to a kid if he dosent behave..you know damned well you are going but just wanna scare him to change behavoir.

I think they would seriously consider trading him if they got a good deal.

That won't happen. The teams in the Top 10 like Oakland and Buffalo are not just one QB away.

He'll remain on the team.

I think Dixon will start the opener vs. Atlanta.

I bet most Cleveland fans wouldn't be calling him "Rapistberger" and whatever other clever names they've come up with for him then. LOL

I won't be surprised if he's gone, won't be surprised if he's not.

If I were the Steelers I'd keep him. If I were a top 10 team, I'd trade my top 10 pick for him in a heartbeat.

All a moot point because a) he's not coming here and b) he wouldn't win a Super Bowl because he's in the ideal situation in Pittsburgh. We have a MUCH better O-Line but nothing close to Pittsburgh's defense. Pittsburgh also HAD exceptional WR's (the loss of Holmes will be huge). They could replace Holmes with a guy like Golden Taint but he won't make near the impact as a rookie. Arnaz Battle & Randle El are not serious threats.

I wouldn't welcome him here at all because I think he's a turd BUT, I'll bet my left nut whether he plays for Pittsburgh, Oakland or the CFL this year that he will keep his nose clean from here on out. You guys definitely value his talent more than I do.

Disagree. I think Golden Tate could make a fairly significant impact as a rookie. All he ever did in college was make plays from Day 1. I'm not saying he's going to have a HOF career but he could be a guy that makes the Pro Bowl several times during his career. He's got a solid frame even though he's only 5-11 195 lbs. He's fast, has the ability to go up and make very tough catches so he can jump and has great hands. He's fast and physical. And he has that "IT" factor. He's a tremendous playmaker.

And you're right....quite a few of us definitely value Ben's talent more than you do.

Oh, and if you turn out to be wrong.....you can keep your left nut.
