I don't think that is necessarily what the front office thinks. The Ghost isn't seen as an every down back and they have no idea what they have in James Davis. Harrison could split carries with Peyton Hillis but none of these guys are seen as "home run threats." Spiller has been referred to as a "Chris Johnson-type back."

I agree there are more pressing needs on offense (WR, QB, OL) but if Berry is gone and Spiller is seen as the BPA on their board, he could be the pick. Then again, RB wasn't a "position of need" when the Vikes grabbed Adrian Peterson either.

Look at the Eagles when Heckart was there. They didn't shy away from drafting playmakers on defense

I'd wait on the RB. A rookie RB needs no time to develop like most all other positions need to.
Wait until your close to being a contenter before having a talent waste or get banged up.

That's actually a really good draft. McCoy would be a great 2nd round pick. Spikes would be a steal in the 3rd round. Spiller will definitely be productive. What's the word on FS Chad Jones?

It's not that I don't like Spiller. I want defense first. But i do like the rest of the draft.

Potential trade down partners with the previously mentioned Eagles and the Packers?

If we draft Clausen, I'm looking for a new team...

I can't wait until the draft starts so all this speculation ends! I'd almost bet the house that Berry will be gone by #7. Thomas is going to be a stud in the NFL, and personally, will have a better career in the NFL than Berry. The only problem I have with trading down, is if we traded down and missed on Berry AND Thomas. I know that more picks sets us up nicely, but with Berry or Thomas, Sheldon Brown, and Eric Wright in our secondary, I think the pieces are there to have one of the better secondaries in the NFL. Just my two cents.

Parts of the schedule (which will be revealed at 7pm) are starting to leak. I'm hearing we play New Orleans on 10/24. I've seen the Steelers schedule and our first meeting with them would be in week 6, after their bye, which is convenient if Roethlisberger only gets 4 games. The Steelers trading for Leftwich this afternoon could mean the suspension is longer.

I don't get all the shit about Clausen. He's played in a pro-system at ND and put up very good numbers. He's shown he can get the ball down field. He's shown he makes good decisions on the field.

Call me crazy, but I think he'll be a very good pro....a Matt Ryan-type. I just think the whole Brady Quinn garbage has Browns fans scared...but you can't really blame them.

If the times listed on NFL.com hold (obviously the TV networks can shuffle them), the Browns are listed to have all 16 games played at 1:00 on Sundays.

It's not a typo either, as other teams are penciled in for the 4:15 slots on those weeks too. That's how it just happens to set up tentatively.

Makes sense, as the furthest west they head this year is New Orleans, and the furthest an away team is traveling into Cleveland is KC; no west coast games/teams whatsoever

I actually like the fact that all games will start at 1 PM. Dont' have to sit around waiting for a 4 PM kick-off! I was hoping for one night game, but oh well.

No problem with all 1:00 pm games at all. I hate night games (not that they deserve any) or 4:15 pm starts.

As a side note, the first Steelers/Browns game falls on my birthday.

Interesting that they have the 10th hardest schedule.

Sorry to have to tell you this, but you're going to have a terrible birthday.

Can't possibly be worse than the day you were dropped onto an unsuspecting Earth.

I'm sure your birthday is just as terrible every year. I really can not think of a scenario where anyone would be happy that you were born.
