As far as your Holmgren comments, how so? Nobody knew the Eagles were going to come down on their asking price. Reid had held firm that he wanted a 1st and more for McNabb for a VERY long time. Holmgren moved on and Reid finally realized he (Reid) was a fool, wasn't going to get what he wanted for McNabb and dropped his asking price.

Am I thrilled with Delhomme? Not exactly but NOBODY knew Reid would drop the asking price. Reid said ALL along that he wanted to keep McNabb.

I would call that punch of his an issue because he was kicked off the team initially until Coach Kelly allowed him to be on the team and not play in any of the games until the Rose Bowl. But besides that, I think if he got into a franchise that is pretty disciplined and made sure he would not slip up again he will be fine. What do you think about Eric Decker being a possible pick in a later round if he's available? I thought he was a pretty good WR at Minnesota and one of the best in the Big Ten

I'm just glad Kelly got weak and let Blount play in the Rose Bowl. That fumble of his was a real crucial play and was much appreciated by Buckeyes, everywhere.

I think it shows a lot for how much Blount was willing to do in order to redeem himself. Out of all the athletes who messed up, I really do feel like his remorse was genuine and he actually grew from his experience.

Oh yea, I just saw the latest Kiper mock draft. A lot of picks I don't like, such as the Browns taking Bryant with the 7th pick and the Jaguars taking Spiller with the 10th. It's like the guy threw away the "needs" chart for every team and decided to just throw every BPA to every team thats picking. It's like he doesn't even take into account the team's coaching staff's draft history/strategy.

Most were saying CJ Spiller with a few Dez Bryant's and one Jimmy Clausen. If we went offense, I frankly wouldn't want ANY of those guys at #7.

If we went offense I would like to go oline, oline, oline. If the NFL has shown ANYTHING its that an offensive line will make serviceable skill players successful. If they did go offense I'd love to seem them go Iupati or Pouncey, though both would be reaches with the 7th pick.

Plus there are other players at those positions that I like better. Ryan Matthews and Ben Tate have the size to withstand the rigors of the defenses one sees in the AFC North. CJ Spiller isn't even 200 lbs soaking wet. On the Wide Receiver side I definitely like Tate better. the guy's faster with just as good if not better hands.

Yeah, it might not be considered "draft etiquette" to select a RT that high but I'd snag one of those tackles too. They could either put him at RG until Pashos was done or slide Pashos inside to RG (although he's never played there, I believe). Iupati would be my pick if they traded down a bit. Seven is too high for him.

If Berry is gone and they still go defense, I wouldn't mind them reaching for Thomas either. I don't think there will be much of a dropoff between Berry & Thomas. As long as they don't take Odrick. I think the fan base would melt down if Odrick was the pick.

I agree, overall, Thomas would be considered a stretch but not by much. Quite a few draft experts even have him over Berry. Other than him, all the OLB/DE's that are considered first round talents are too big of risks in my opinion. Jason Pierre-Paul has tremendous upside but if we fail with him we fail hard. Too much High Risk/High Reward with him. If Berry is gone and we want defense THAT bad, I say we trade down to a spot where we know Thomas will be there and maybe get another second round pick with the move down. We are deep at LB to the point where we can manage with what we have, so while it is a need, i still think we can deal with the current stable this year.

Hell I wouldn't mind seeing us get Joe Haden either, since Brown is 31 and he has been known to drop back and play safety from time to time.

A RT at 7 would not be my pick. But I wouldn't have a problem with Thomas there. I realize Berry is the pick. But Thomas is very close to him, if not his equal.

No, I believe Mike Mayock, who is probably the best of these analysts (better than Kiper, Mcshay, etc), had Thomas rated ahead of Berry.

I thought Holmgren's comments about "wishing that he liked Jimmy Clausen more" were smokescreen and after Jimmy's impressive pro day......I think that the Browns almost certainly take him at #7 (I don't see Berry being available at #7).

So get ready for another Notre Dame QB, Cleveland. And sad to say.....I think this one is going to be a stud in the NFL.

Yeah, Holmgren is hoping he's there at No. 7 and doesn't want to tip his hand.

If you just look at this offseason, they replaced the two QBs they had with two others that are still not the long-term solution.

They made a ton of other moves, some decent pickups, but still need a quarterback of the future.

I don't think they can get a player like Mike Kafka in the 5th or 6th round and feel like they've accomplished that. A player like that might end up being a surprising star but from the front office's perspective you don't want to pin your hopes to a QB in the late rounds. With all the draft picks they have, they can fill a lot of other needs but you really only have that one spot where you can draft a top rated QB.

I think Cleveland has McCoy higher than Clausen.

Maybe. Each team has their own preferences but that would seem like a stretch to have McCoy, who seems like an early second round pick, rated higher than Clausen, who projects in the Top 10. They would have to totally dislike Clausen and rule him out to pass on him and wait for McCoy in the second round.

I don't have a great vibe about any of the QBs actually. I think Bradford, Clausen and McCoy could go either way.

If the Steelers were in a position where they needed a QB, I'd want them to take Tebow. I think the intangibles and athletic ability would be enough on a team that usually has a great defense and running game (although not so much the past few years.) And because of his work ethic, he will still improve quite a bit as a pocket passer and could be solid if not spectacular in that area. His energy and presence would also be an instant hit with the Steelers fans.

It kind of depends on what the Browns think they are or what they're trying to be. This goes back to understanding the offensive philosphy. Bradford and McCoy played in finesse, spread offenses in college. They usually have been in the shotgun and didn't take a lot of hits and when they did they got beat up quickly. Clausen to his credit took a pounding early on and got up off the mat so to speak. That right there says Cleveland, AFC North to me more than the wide-open Big 12 style.

Holmgren prefers the WCO which isn't necessarily a shotgun offense but still relies on quick reads, timing, accuracy. The passing game sets up the running game because more defensive backs have to come on the field to defend the pass and therefore the running game opens up with a lot of draw plays or a pass fake and run.

The traditional style of offense is more power running and when the defense comes up to stop the run the passing game works because of the play action or one-on-one matchups. There aren't a lot of teams that can play the traditional offense in today's NFL because the run defenses are too good from week to week. The offensive line has to be very good to lean on the run game consistently. But the Browns could have a good line.

I kind of think of the three QBs (Bradford, Clausen, McCoy), Clausen is most capable of adapting to either style. Three-step drop or shotgun and quick passing or long stretches of power football.
