Another signing for the team nobody wants to play for.

That is the first good move they have made the entire offseason.

Delhomme will only sign with Cleveland if there is a guarantee he will be the starter.

Then he won't sign with them because I just read that apparently there still is "some" interest by both parties but the Browns "would not guarantee him a starting job."

Kinda strange how he'd want to play for New Orleans and be a backup versus having a legit shot to compete with Wallace for the starting job here. He'd probably have a decent shot to win any QB competition if healthy.

I'm lukewarm on the Watson signing. He's kinda like Winslow in that he can catch but is a swinging gate when it comes to blocking.

If he doesnt get a starting job, he will likely be the backup to Brees.

I think the Browns are having a better offseason than many are giving them credit for. They have upgraded the right side of the OL. They have improved the QB and TE positions, and they have added more depth at LB. I don't think any of us we're expecting pro bowlers to sign as there are not that many available to begin with, so but each position has been improved a little bit. We still have chances to land a solid QB through trade in McNabb or possibly Hasselback. So I'm very happy with what the Browns have done so far.

With the signing of David Carr, the 49ers are going to try to trade Shaun Hill. It's likely they will get no takers and will release him. Thoughts on Hill?

Rather have quinn than hill. but that's me. if they dropped smith instead of hill... :D.

what's Hill's contract like that they would release him instead of N. Davis? who seemingly will never play a down in SF.

Hill hasn't seen a lot of pt that's for sure, though he wasn't horrible when pressed into action. I wouldn't think his services worthy of a trade, bringing him in for a look free of charge...fine.

Really haven't seen enough of Hill to give any judgement....but they haven't had a lot of success recently at the QB position, if that's saying anything.

Just throwing it out there for opinions. You're right though. We don't currently have a starter on this roster.

I dont see why everyone is shooting down the idea of bringing in Delhomme or Hill. We have Seneca Wallace and Brady Quinn as qb's on our roster FFS. Its not like we are a QB away from winning a SB. I dont see the harm in bringing in a couple guys to compete for the starting spot.

^^^I thought Homlgren said there will not be a QB competition? They were gonna have that figured out before training camp.

He might have, but i dont see how they can just decide on whos going to be QB without some sort of competition.

Reghi was saying that according to his sources, there will be a firm decision on the starter after mini camp.

QB competitions rarely work. It just causes lockerroom devisions. There needs to be a clear starter and actually stick with him for an entire season. We've done plenty of QB competitions this past decade and all have failed miserably (Couch, Holcomb, Frye, Andersen, Quinn). It seems like we can never stick with one QB for an entire year. Let's say we try something new this year...

getting better on the right side will make whatever QB starts this year look a little better.

I still believe that Brady Quinn will be the starter and play out this year in Cleveland and be gone next year.
