I just signed up for this free trial. I don't think it's the perfect solution yet, but similar to what I am looking for (minus a few important channels but soon to be adding AMC)
It's cable tv you streams live on Roku, AppleTV, Phone & Media Devices.
$20 package (no contracts)
This makes it simple in theory.
It has been tough without ESPN when you don't have cable. If they happen to add Big Ten Network & History Channel would be amazing for my watching habits.

I forget where we were talking about this already, but I am for sure going to be looking at it once HBOGO is available without a subscription to cable. However, I will check out a free trial and see how it works.

Sports is the main reason why I haven't gotten rid of cable tv. There has to be some type of kicker. Also, what about the main channels (CBS/ABC/FOX/NBC)?

No main channels. I just get them over the air. No DVR features either.
Just ESPN family of channels available.
It came out yesterday, hopefully it's just a start of something really good that helps with competition of major cable companies.

ABC/NBc/CBS/Fox are all available for free over the air, so there is no missing NFL games or major sports.
However, since they are available for free, I wouldn't be surprised if Sling TV could add them for cheap and not charge us any extra.

If you are getting a good signal on an antenna, it's perfect HD quality. If you don't, it's choppy or a blue screen.
I use an indoor antenna since I'm only 20 miles away. This one below:

Anyone know if Watch ESPN comes with the subscription? Currently I watch stuff on their via my cable login, but I obviously won't have that anymore.

I think the only thing I would be missing are:
FX
Showtime
HBO (fixed when they go without a cable requirement)
BTN (can steal parents login)
Not bad at all. With BTN situation I really wouldn't miss any sports I care about (as I purchase the MLB/NBA package) and can't think of any shows I watch outside of the networks provided/listed.

Def going to take a look at this when I move. Only reason I have cable now is because of the roommate and this has most of the channels I watch live TBH. Can use Netflix and HBOgo for everything else. Couple that with the locals for free and I'd be set for $25 a month.

No DVR capabilities is a killer. Who can watch shows in real time?
Then you have to add in Hulu+, Netflix, etc... and by the time it is all done you are damn near to your cable payment or at least close enough that the cost savings don't warrant it.
I watch a ton of football and college hoops Where are the Fox Sports Networks? Add another 5 for them. I love nothing more than watching the 11PM Pac12 network game on Saturday night after a day of football and drinking to cap the night. Add another 5 for that. No NFL Redzone. Add 10 for that...if it is even offered. No Golf Channel. Add another 5. May get lucky and it might get added in with the 5 I would spend for NBC Sports Network. Another 5 for CBS Sports Network. This stuff is going to add up quickly.

This is a deal breaker for me. I watch almost nothing live and religiously fast forward through commercials and stuff I don't want to see. Even sporting events I sometimes start late and catch up. Here is the list from the FAQ's... "HGTV, DIY, Travel Channel, Cooking Channel, Food Network, Galavision, El Rey, Univision Deportes, Universal Sports, and beIN Sports and we expect this list to grow." I think if I was single this would be really cool. But my wife lives off the DVR. But I'll do the trial once this comes to Xbox One. I think the only channels it is missing that I watch on a semi regular basis are NFL Network, FX, FXX, BTN, ESPN Classic, and Fox College Sports Regional channels. But I could live without these if I'm saving 70 bucks a month.
