People have definitely seen this coming. He said on Stern awhile ago that he was burnt out from the show. And when he stepped away to direct that movie, the writing was pretty much on the wall.

Definitely going to suck for Comedy Central. Not sure who they would find to replace him.

No way Oliver leaves his show on HBO.
I love his new show, it is awesome. He can do the same format, but longer and no beeping. And, it is HBO.

I didn't see him leaving coming. I knew he might step aside eventually, but didn't see it this year.
No idea who fills his slot, or if comedy central goes in a new direction.

It'll be an affirmative action hire and then the show will die.

Like that black dude that took over for Colbert? And yeah it's obvious he doesn't have the same energy he used to, show has became progressively more about promoting a liberal agenda

I don't see them being able to replace him and keeping the show, which is what I read they planned on doing.

People said the same thing when Kilborn left the Daily Show for the Late Late Show. They'll be able to replace him and keep the show. The format may change a bit, but they'll be able to keep it.

coincidentally, there is an opening for an anchor at NBC....considering it's a joke of a network, he'd fit right in.

Fair enough. Maybe a better analogy would be: that's what everyone said when Johnny Carson was leaving the Tonight Show.

Makes sense, they both can continue to make stuff up and editorialize the news with cleaver editing and we would not have to worry about fact checking.

I saw today Trevor Noah will replace Stewart. He has only been on the show a few times and I haven't found one of his bits funny.

Also had sent anti Semitic tweets in the past. Sleeper was right again, affirmative action hire.
