Do you have any?

My wife and I were married November 2013 -- found out she was six weeks pregnant around Christmas. Not exactly what we had in mind, but oh well. We're fortunate in a way that we each have a parent recently retired who are eager to watch her. We work in healthcare so we alternate 12-hour shifts so at least one of us is always home/awake with her as well.

Having a daughter is great and we're lucky that she's never been very fussy. She's been sleeping through the night since she was about 2-3 months. She is at the teething stage now, however :-(

Three daughters, two years apart from each other. Now I have 5 grand kids ..... We didn't push our kids off on grandparents unless they ask to watch then and even then we didn't want to take advantage. So now our kids understand the rule and unless we volunteer weren't watching them.
We have raised ours and they can raise theirs ....

Not sure if you're referring to me but I don't think I alluded to pushing off my daughter on anyone.

my way of expressing my thoughts, nothing directed at anyone... I'm just a nice old guy hey you going to teach your daughter to shoot weapons. Pink toy guns are cool.. Kids love them...

I have absolutely no problem handing my son off to my parents or in laws. None.

Married 5 years come July. 1 daughter who will turn 1 in March. Expecting another child come April.

We live 12 and 14 hours away from each side of the family...so it's daycare for us...bummer. Dumb student loans from me or the wifey could stay at home. :(

Saw an article in the DDN today about a five year old finding his loaded, unprotected grandpa's gun and accidentally shooting and killing his 9-month old brother. Of course, this isn't a problem with guns themselves, but more so the people owning them irresponsibly. But sorry, this is still my personal preference that a gun will never enter my home. I've only shot guns at a range once. I've thought about lessons for myself or wife, but nothing I have interest in right now.

Same. I use to work with a lady who had a nutty daughter-in-law that was so protective that she never let anyone see the baby. Really devastated my co-worker. I would rather be considered pushy and let my family have her as much as possible than keep her bottled up at home where it's just my wife and I.

Have a soon to be 2year old. My parents get upset if they don't get to see her at least 1x a week. They live about an hour away and both retired, so it works out well. I just wish I had a better paying job so my wife didn't have to work and could stay home with her.

When my kids were little we didn't have a problem with others watching them but we certainly didn't expect it or plan on it. That's a little bit different.

Coming up on 5 years with my wife in August. Still no kids for us, and nothing on the radar for the near future.

We started trying this past August. But my wife has been dealing with some medical issues that have put that to the back burner. May be a blessing in disguise as I'm on track to have my student loans paid off by June or July and we'll be debt free with the exception of our mortgage. So that will put us in a better place financially to be ready for a kid.

No kids, but I'm hoping for three or four eventually. No family under an hour away, but I have no doubt that my mom will make it a point to see them as often as possible. I will also have no qualms about leaving my kids with relatives, or even friends.

Ultimate goal is to stay home with them until they are all in school, but we'll see.

Hard to believe in a few years they will all be gone from our home and it will just be my wife and I. It will be quite a change as my daughter was born less than a year after my wife and I were married. I joke with here about anytime anyplace anywhere.

My wife did this. Once the youngest was nearly school she started working. It was a little rough financially but we had kids at a time (young) in our lives when we were not yet financially stable. But no amount of money would ever have been worth the time she was able to spend with the kids. I hope you are able to achieve your goal.

Emply net.. Is a big adjustment. Trust me it's hard, cooking for two, added time to do nothing, less time away from home, no running for school events, quietness.... However two people still product a lot of trash somehow.

My wife was a stay at home mom up to the age of my youngest starting grade school, then she when back to work.
It was important that she, maintained her career for the future of the family and herself identity. I wanted my wife to achieve her goals and provide an example of being a strong women to my daughters.
